I went on the Island Spirit in Ventura Sport Landing. The boat did not go to where I thought they were going, one of the islands. Instead they rode South East about 25 miles back along the shore.
The boat left the dock with 45 anglers. Most of the fish we caught were small and tiny. Some spots came up with just sanddabs. We moved about 20 times and we were always pulling one here two there, never wide open for everyone.
I myself ended up with couple of Salmon Grouper, couple Reds and assorted rock fish. Total maybe 14 rock fish and 18 sanddabs.
At the fish cleaning time, we saw the deckhands sorted for each angler with mostly a combination of this mix, 3 Salmon Grouper and 7 other rock fish.
At the end of the fish cleaning they threw back down the water over 50 to 80 smaller fish as they said we were over limits.
Post edited as the limits for all rockfish combine is 10 as said by deckhand.
