Carolina versus Drop Shot Rig for Surf Fishing

Are there specific surf fishing situations where I should be using a Carolina rig versus a Drop Shot rig. Just getting back into surf fishing and so far I've only used a Carolina set up with a Berkley Sandworm. Thanks in advance.

Personally, I use a drop shot in one of two situations: if the fish ain't biting the LC, or during a higher slack tide in the surf.

For me dropshot seems more affective if there is any structure with less snagging.

Try going a little South and hit up San Onofre. It's a great place to surf fish.
