Gettin my little outboard repaired for Saturday.

Anyone else goin out?

Now that I have more freedom around the lake, could anyone reccomend a place to look for stripers?

Not looking for honey holes or gps #s.

My instinct is to always work off of points.

Is this a good idea? Is open water a better option?

I have electronics so I will be looking for schools.

Anyone idea what depths to target?

Thanks!
Phil

For depths, im assuming 40ft and below in open water. But i haven't been out there lately so i don't know for sure, im just going off of basic striper knowledge. I was gonna try and go out on saturday but it seems like it will be really cold that day, so it might not be the best time, but again i could be wrong. Im gonna head out there next saturday if possible. as far as spots i would say just look around until you meter some fish, then anchor up and do work. I hear near the dam is a good place to go, but last i heard its against the rules to go within 500 feet of the place, so try not to get too close. the channel might be another good place to go. Seems the channel has always been a go to place for fish ever since i started fishing the place some years ago.

Depends... are you willing to share your experience afterward furthering the bite lowdown?

Forgive me for being so blunt but it is a two way street

Of course. No need to apologize.

I post all of my trips with pretty good detail and they tend to be long like my first one...

As far as I am concerned, we can all help each other out.

Here is a typical post from me from NY. Notice the lure in every pic. I even gave too many details this time. Funny story though:LOL:

Fished Conesus yesterday in the afternoon hopin to find some bass.

Hook up with this guy on the first cast.

Ended up being one of those days. Must have caught over 20 bass. None of them were hogs, but they were a lot of fun on light tackle. Most looked like this.

Was workin my way down the lake when things slowed a bit. Decided to troll for smallies back up to my spot.

While trolling offshore about 20 feet deep I hooked up big time. At first thought I snagged, but soon realized I had a big fish.

Get it up and it is the wrong kind :o

Took some really quick photos before releasin him (I had the camera in my lap). I say him because he spermed all over me.

Measured at 22'' which is my PB so far. Too bad I could not keep him!

These pics do not do justice. He was a nice fish.

He was back in the water after being out for maybe 30 seconds.

Decided I better not troll that lure anymore...

Went back shallow and got some more bass.

Called it a day early because I was more than satisfied.

Ok, then...

Bite at the mid is tough, your best bet is to do what IN2deep did and post up in the deep water or as close to the dam behind the island as you can and soak the sardines.

Only action is at the dam on bait right now.

Let us know how ya did

Are we talking complete transparency here?

I often share but I've learned not to burn my current fishing hole.

Its pyramid lake. one honey hole there is big enough to have ten people fish it. big lakes like this i never really worry about honey holes being burned.

Got into some black and white stripes, but... skunk!

Motor ran great and worked between the dam and chumash.

Wind picked up and headed Northwest for cover.

After 5 hours, we trolled a bit.

Boat ran great and it was still fun!

Water was about 50.

PS I really appreciate the info from you guys. I think these sites are for helpin each other out. If you don't want your secrets copied by lurkers, PM's are great.
That being said, I usually like to go with my instincts anyways...

I just hope soon that I can be the one giving info and not asking for it!

B@W wasn't working, so I tried trolling.

Water was around 50 degrees.

Great to have the boat running well!

One of these days I'll figure this lake out...

Thanks for the help guys!

PS As far as sharing info, I think that's what sites like this are for. I

Feeling in good company since it is usually T/O that gets these sort of accolades. I left plenty stripers for Phil. I know he will figure out the lake if he keeps at it.
