i know the lake is closed this time of year but are you allowed to fish if you hike into the lake. any info. would be great.

They close the lake as it often freezes this time of year...make sure u got your FAP

The lake is not officially closed. The concessionaire posts the signs. They think they own the lake. Both Forest Service and DFW say you can walk in and fish. You shouldn't need a FAP to park on the road, since there are not "two amenities" being offered-but I'm not 100% sure if the USFS is honoring that yet.
There are hold-over trout there. Most small to average sized. And remember-lake ice is not only unsafe, but it is illegal to go on lake ice in San Bernardino County. So don't ice fish!

Jenks is frozen this time of year. But when it thaws, the holdovers should be hungry! RTG is right! Don't ice fish. Dangerous and definitely not worth it. Since there is another storm coming in, there probably won't be any open areas of water. Wait until temps roll up a bit.
