Arrived to my first spot and decided to fish upstream. Tied on a elk hair caddis and first cast “FISH ON”. Pulled in a nice 5 inch trout and easy release in the water. Kept the pace up stream and had nice risers for the caddis. Some of these fish were jumping over the fly with perfect 10 entries. Cloudy days I guess make for active fish here at this stream. I had visited here 1 week ago and the action on the surface was absent compared to today.

I continued to fish and the growth was heavier but with some planned side arm casts I managed to get a small trout to take … but released its self. Oh well the action was exciting.

TOTAL LOSS 2 elk caddis, and 1 dry fly. Finished up fishing my eyeless TENKARA reverse hackle with black thread body. After some experimenting with drift and twitching I hooked up more fish. I would cast slightly upstream at a diagonal and keep most of the line off the water while twitching the rod tip. Tight line meant “FISH ON”.

This was really my first time using a reverse hackle and putting some action into the fly. Not keeping my attention on the fly but watching the line. The things you learn and keep discovering each and every time you go out.

Here are some shots of one area.

An elusive POOL about 25 foot down from the road. Of course i FISHED IT but lost my last caddis on some debris.

Beautiful photos and excellent report! Much more water than many of the creeks I fish. I would love to try it sometime!
