Yeah the first time i caught a catfish at irvine lake, since they were so easy to fillet and cook, i wanted an area when i could easily catch a few. So with that said, where in socal could i go? i live in 91748/rowland heights area. Willing to drive within an hour away for a good catfish lake.

The Merced river above the HWY. 49 bridge . Park at the Bagby campground then boat 3.5 miles upstream. There are huge Trout, kokanee Salmon and so many Small Mouth Bass they get in brawls with the Trout fighting over a spinner or fly !
I truly love that river and It's never ending fish!
For the catfish guy try Puddingstone Lake, there are lot's of Kitties in that lake and it's close to your area.

Big Bear Lake, hands down. More fish, and bigger fish, than any other water in the area specified. Since moving out of the IE in 2008, I'm not able to hit it as often as before, but still keep a hand in each year.
