No like!

Those big pockets on the front of your vest would drive me crazy, they will get in the way! Go with a sling pack no crap up front to mess with your mind.

Really those are pretty damn ugly also. Are they considered life saver vests? If so that would be the only reason to buy one for a kayak or boat I guess.

First thing came to mind...is this a fishing vest or a PFD? It looks a little tactical for fishing and a bit overkill with the pockets. This probably looks better as a PFD or diving vest rather than a fishing vest.

I'll be the first to admit that there are some rather sexy lookin JDM items that aren't readily available in the US. But then there are some pretty, uh, interesting items, just like those vests.

If I were looking for a mobile pack, I'd go with any of these before wearing those vests:

http://www.evergreen-fishing.com/images_set02/goods_images/goods_detail/5419001/5419001_08.jpg

or a Shimano XEFO shoulder pack:

http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/images/cache/747/product1.jpg

http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/images/cache/1550/product1.jpg

I'd even go with a traditional 'hip' pack, and take it back to 1985.

They also make some pretty functional shoulder/wasit packs as well.

The vest cost from $100 -$300 for one of these bad boys.:EyePop:

Shimnao fishing vest 21,000 Japanese yen, The conversion is about $210 not including tax and shipping. So your looking at least around $250 get it here. Then the cost of all your lures in the vest plus another $200

your walking around in a $450 vest plus your rod and reel

http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/wear/740

this vest is 32,000 yen. I think this is more for ISO fishing, jetty fishing.

http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/wear/2716

From the videos I've watch it doesn't look to me the vest pockets get in the way.

Look at all the lucky crafts you can take with you on a trip.

Ive watch guys ISO fish, rocking fish and surf fish and I haven't seen anything bad.

The fly fishing vest are different, look at the shoulder part of the vest, there's no support. And they don't float. These Japanese vest are also floating life vest. Well unless you put to much heavy stuff in your pockets.
.

i currently use the WFO fanny pack. It's ok but.....

assuming your able to find a vender that is willing to ship it here, you'll have to select the one that you think you actually like with out trying it on. And you will also have to select the color.

You also have the currency transaction fee on your credit card.

which one do I want.........

so many to choose from...

like many other things I've notice.

They start overseas and slowly migrate to the states.

Samsung phones, play station, Nintendo's, skyline/ Nissan 240

I remember when I was in Japan around 2000 and I saw that they had those self printing pictures where you stick in the memory card and you choose the pictures you want to print. I don't know what you call them. The ones in kinko's. I knew those where going to eventually hit the states.

Several years past and what do I see pop up in kinko's. Those self serve developing picture boxs.

And like with many things when it hits the states there are modification to accommodate the u.s. buyer and to pass state and federal regulations. And some times it doesn't resemble the original design.

Im not saying everthing from over seas comes to the states. But there is a lot. More then you would imagine.

I waited for my "keepon" dancing thing for ages but when it hit the u.s market it wasn't the same.

Joys fishing tackle Gona have people asking him where they can get a fishing tackle vest.I havent bought the rod yet, because Im deciding whether to get the rod, or those Dress Grasper Grips. Those run about $200 as well. Im leaning towards the rod, but those grips are insanely sick!!! I might just put the grips off until the summer, seeing as I just got a Berkley Tec Pistol Trigger Grip. I know theres no comparing the two, but I wanna give the Berkley grippers a good run in the salt, and see how they do.

As far as the vest, I ordered it off of Rakuten... Which I guess is like Japan's Amazon, or somethin? I wanted to get one of the Apia Angler Support Vests, but they were sold out of those. Too sick!!! They have a bunch of cool stuff on there. Only thing is, I dont know how long itll take to get here. Oh well, I can wait.

Found this online.

The true cost of safety

Can we really put a price on our safety? We take part in a sport that involves standing on rocks and being battered by waves, wading in currents up to 8knot and sometimes even doing all of the above at night. We've all been there, you cast out and begin your retrieve, before you know it a wave that appears from nowhere has jacked up before your very eyes and you can do nothing but brace yourself and take it. If your lucky, you've stayed on your feet. But what if you don't? What if you get washed off the rocks and straight into the turbulent water that you're fishing? I Consider myself a strong enough swimmer and spent my youth Surfing in the sea, but with waders and chest pack on, how efficient a swimmer will I be? And in those conditions? Scary!

If you spend as much time trawling through Japanese video's as I do, you'll notice something. They're always wearing life jackets. No matter what sort of mark and in what conditions. As I don't understand a word of Japanese, I'm not sure whether they are bad swimmers, or if they are genuinely safety conscious(and rightly so). One thing I do know, is that some of the life vests they have available to them are very cool!

Take this Mazume Redmoon 111 for example. It looks a very stylish and useful chest pack, with the real bonus of being a safety device. I've seen Japanese Bass guys wearing them on video's and they hold decent lure boxes as well as everything else you're likely to be carrying with you. I know there are a couple of guys in the UK with them now. Yes, they are pricey at anything up to £300 delivered(including UK taxes), but when you consider what you're actually getting, they don't seem so expensive anymore.

After reading Toby Harnett' report on the Forum, how he got himself into a real pickle yesterday while trying to rescue a snagged lure, getting washed into the sea in the process and being saved by the fact he was wearing a Snowbee auto-inflate vest, can you guess what's just found it's way onto my Christmas list?

The fishing this weekend has been terrible, persistent rain, heavy winds and water that's just too coloured to fish effectively. Still, as they say; A bad day's fishing beats a good day at work. Put me on those rocks, soaked to the bone and blanking over being sat here at my desk any day.

I use a clear back pack I bought at big lots for $5. I like seeing what and where everything is without digging in every pocket!

The bums that frequent the Metro in the morning suggested I try some Steel Reserve, and for being 8.1% ABV, it's relatively cheap, and considering they were drunk and nearly passed out at 7 am on a Monday, it must be good.

Take that Chimay!
