I have a pretty heavily used telescopic fishing rod tube. Its made of aluminium and would be perfect to mount on an SUV or truck with a camper shell. Or just use it as storage in a garage. The picture shows it open to 66 inches (5 1/2 feet) but it might telescope to a longer length. It is a bit rough around the edges but is perfectly functional and I've never damged a rod while it was in this tube. Its $10 and you can call (909)922 nine three eight seven
