I know they emptied and dredged San Dimas Reservoir sometime last year and was curious about the condition it's currently in so I went up there a few days ago and checked it out. Tons of bird life, lots of ducks and Canadian Geese. The water that's in there appears to be just runoff from the small creek that feeds it. Didn't try to fish it, access to the water is too steep and rough. There's "no trespassing" signs posted all over the construction fencing near the dam but right where the fence ends, there is a short and well worn dirt trail leading to the cement launch ramp. Not sure if this trail is from the workers or trespassers, maybe both? The only feasible access without trespassing would be to park at the ranger station at the end of the road and hike in from the north side, but even that might be difficult because the back of the reservoir appeared extremely swampy/marshy. Would love to do some exploratory fishing there though, but I'll save it for another day. I didn't talk to rangers or anybody, no one around. Here's a few pics:

Aw , they used to stock that with trout in the 80's we go there after school to fish and it was good fun . It was just hard enough to get down the hill to keep masses away but the dedicated could slide their way in. That looks like they have all but given up on it.

Thanks for the update, dang last time I was there was in the late 1960's as a teen. The water sure is low in those pics you sent. I went there a few times back in the day but never had any luck fishing but it was a nice place with no people around.

As for the fine, when I contacted them about fishing, I was told it is legal to fish it if you can find a way safety down without trespassing on their dam.
