Saw on the website both parks r getting stocked this week and thinking of fishing these for the first times. Anyone know what day these two lakes get stocked and which one generally does better?

I would say Cerritos over Alondra any day of the week! Cerritos is a cleaner lake and the trout fishing has been good this year when stocked.

Are you sure? I know for a fact that La Mirada Lake was stocked yesterday and a guy there told me that the other L.A. county lakes get stocked by the same truck. You may be right though cause my cousin and his friend pulled an overnight at Cerritos and Downey Wilderness and got skunked.

I was at Alondra today and there wasn't any trout in the lake.

they stocked Friday around 11:30 with 15 net scoops holding 20-25 trout that looked 1/2-1 lb. the water was very muddy. in 5 hours I saw 4 trout caught...2 on yellow powerboat, one on a dark green mimicking, and didn' t see what the last one was caught on. even the local poacher said it was a tough bite.

The Cerritos bite was hot from Friday morning on to Monday night. My brother and cousin are trying there luck again tonight. Plastics were working and flies too.

Hit Alondra for a hour at sunset time. No bites on Powerbait floating garlic.
Saw the yellow powerboat too.

It's for moments like this, is when the guilt gets washed away for giving you a hard time in the general discussion section of FNN.

Try this:

Cast your bait parallel to the shoreline, alot of trout hang in the shallows, and flee from the sound of your footsteps.. Casting parallel to the shore allows you to drop a bait in front of 'em without spooking them.
