Hello everyone,

I'm looking to do some golf course fishing, I've done it a few times already but I haven't caught anything yet. Can anyone reccomend any lures or tactics to use? I live in the glendora/san dimas area. Thanks in advance

I live in San Dimas also. When I was younger, I fished the Via Verde Country Club 16th hole many many times. There were big catfish in there, not sure about now though. We used to use cheddar cheese cut into little blocks with a split shot and 6-8" leader, worked flawlessly. I've never used lures while golf course fishing. There's a little lake on the 4th hole also but never fished it, might be safer though since its completely out of sight. Hmm, maybe I should try the 4th soon?

Dangers during the day: Cops, the marshall, and golfers (oh my lord do golfers become furious when they catch people fishing their lakes, watch out!!)
Dangers during the night: Cops, coyotes

I also know that Palm Lakes in Pomona off of the 71 (either 3rd or 4th hole, I forget) has some beautiful LMB's...never fished it but the water is crystal clear and you can see them swimming around.

Good luck!!

I use to do it a lot.

Try a Texas rigged black or camo power worm with no weight. 4" curly tail.

Is this considered ninja? or can people really fish in golf courses?

Anyone fish in the Coachella Valley on golf courses? My brother lives out there and I know they have a ton but I haven't heard of any of them being fishable.

Definitely ninja. I don't believe there's any laws regarding fishing on a golf course, but if someone sees you and calls the cops, they can bust you for trespassing especially if the golf course if private. I'd go at night IMO...most golfers consider the golf course "THEIR" course and fishermen are basically considered intruders because it's a golf course, not a recreational area.

most all golf courses have small fish in them to eat the algae and then they have to put some bass in to control the population of the smaller fish. So all most all of them have fish

Fishing at golf courses is like shooting fish in a barrel. There are giant fish in there as well.

Why break the law to fish when there are tons of public waters around? Catching a couple of bass doesn't seem worth a misdemeanor charge and a hefty fine IMO.

There's really no good public lakes around where I live. I would love to get up in our local mountains but I don't know too many spots

Peck Road and other various park lakes, Piru, Castiac, plus tons of surfline and jetties to name a few. Check out Google earth and look for black spots. There are more than you think.

I occassionally fish golf courses. I always fish them at night, wear all black, and fish when there is no moon. I have caught some big LMB out of several courses. Had some close calls getting caught, but always got away. Best to scout a course during the day and pick your spots with good cover and easy escape routes. I like the challenge lol

I moved to the IE about 2 yrs ago for family reasons and left behind a 14 foot jon boat and some really big bass in front of my rental 1973 falcon trailer(Bugs, mice the whole deal) in a quaint little rv park on a back slough of the San Joaquin river. The Delta...I went to the Pud a few times and was so discouraged because I never got a bite,I pretty much just hung up the poles at that point.See I thought I was a good stick because I always caught fish at home,Big fish! I`m not trying to sound like a Know it all but if You have ever spent time on the Delta You would get it.Got to hit silverwood a few times in a friends boat to shake Robo worms for 3 lb fish.....No thanx! !I also had to camo up to fish!!!! What was the old Manteca water slides or oak wood lake was bull dosed up and developed for sale as new houses, the economy killed most of the project .the Lake was given new pumps and the fish in there are huge!!!!!I had to hide below the fence line in the rocks in full desert camo every time the security guard drove by on the other side. Most mornings and nights the Commando Bass hunt was on!!!This thread really has given me hope that I can Fish Here somewhere LOL Cheers Ric..

I fish a few golf courses in and around the san fernado valley.

These are strictly ninja grounds. Wear all black keeps lights to a minimum.

Most of these ponds i fish senkos weightless texas rigged or wacky.

Use google maps to figure out where to go. Sorry i can't give out exact locations seeing as these are small ponds and i don't want a ton of fishing pressure on these ponds and i put allot of time and energy into finding these locations. Fished just about every golf course pond there is from simi valley to santa clarita. Only found 2 ponds that produce decent sized bass. One got pretty popular a few years ago and now the fishing is lack luster and you're lucky to catch even one or two fish a night. but i got one that still produces bass up to 7 pounds on a regular basis.

I don't recommend ninja work, but I understand what motivates it......and I have zero use for golf or golfers. Golf course = waste of a great rifle range space.

The solution to fishing a pond where you don't have to worry about golfers or marshalls is to fish a cemetery pond. It's kinda creepy ninja'ing a graveyard at night but the residents don't mind and there are monster fish in them ponds.

I worked at a country club for 4 years when I was younger, the old men that paid their $15,000 yearly fees are the most uptight, proper, self-righteous mother f'ers on the planet. I hated them all!! I used to clean their clubs with my spit because I couldn't stand them, and steal their golf balls out of their bags. If you've seen Horrible Bosses, imagine 250 Kevin Spaceys all in 1 room. I golf sometimes, but these 'private course' guys I worked for absolutely sucked....

A great trick is to actually be someone who golfs, and is smart enought to stick a telescopic rod (and a six pack) in your bag.

When your buddy is triple bogeying a 125 yard hole, it becomes a great opportunity to find out what's laying in wait in the 9th hole water hazard.

That way, you're not having to dress in black and looking like a ninja trying to catch a bass. It feels great when even the employees walk over to see the 8# you just nailed in a pond the size of Lincoln Park.

But yeah, NINJA IS AWESOME!

I'm glad you were just cleaning clubs and not flipping burgers. I don't see a reason to hate someone just because they've been successful in life.

Just for clarification and so I don't sound like the biggest ahole in town, that was 25 years ago and I was only 13 when I worked there. When you're 13, the concept of success means nothing because you're too young to comprehend the true value of it. My reasons for working there: it was walking distance from my house, it was great money, and I golfed so this job was a no brainer for me. These 'members' I catered to were always drunk, always had a threatening demeanor towards my coworkers and I, screamed and cussed in our faces at will. 1 guy raised his fist at us multiple times. I don't care how much money you make or pay the country club each year, you're NEVER entitled to treat a young teenager that way. So, I reacted the way a 13 year old would react, and cleaned their clubs with my spit.

It had nothing to do with success, and being successful entitles people to NOTHING but their own money....

I hear ya, K-Addict. You should hear them cuss and carry on when you pull them out of some wreck they cause while piloting their BMW at B/A .18! Inside or outside their la-de-da country club, they are often azzhats that treat others like trash. I agree--success does NOT entitle someone to be insulting, rude, aggressive, or abusive. I'll bet they had a real fine time in the drunk tank with the Coachella homeboys and Indio train bums.

I don't think this reservoir is fishable ???
Found this info on a fishing website. This reservoir I do believe is covered now ?
It is on the corner of Palos Verdes Drive North and Palos Verdes Drive East.
Checked out PV Country Club today and the ponds have reeds and look promising ???
The problem is it is in front of the clubhouse although it bushes/trees on one side.
If anyone has any info on these spots and don't wish to post it then send a PM.

I fish there occasionally and I use 4lb test because it has clear line that won't spook the fish and I use gizits which look like little 1 1/2 inch squids that inmitate minnows for the bass. I usually jig it when reeling it in to give more vibration to the fish. Would you happen to know what other fish other than bass live in that lake?

I've fished San Dimas golf course a bunch of times at night, weekends are tough especially during wedding season. There are 3 ponds and I've caught fish in every single one mostly 2-3# but there are some that get up to 6#. It can be sketchy and watch out for skunks.
I've also fished Sierra la Verne and caught a couple 3# bass but there are so many houses around you can't make a noise or turn on any lights. I wish this was legal, because the fishing is just too fun and easy but they can bust you for trespassing.

I don't know what some are thinking. Potential trespassing violation mentioned then announce which courses you fish and the size potential of fish caught there. Just doesn't make sense to me but hey maybe he just wants a bigger challenge.
