June lake loop in the winter

does anyone know when the lakes thaw out?
i hear in january there still fully frozen and not able to fish..?
please tell me thats not correct..

even if they do thaw out in January--which is very rare--- you are not allowed to fish Mono County until the last weekend in April

April or May depending on the winter. Fishing will reopen the last saturday of April 2013 for most waters in the high sierras but a few in lower areas are now year round. I think Pleasent Valley is year round.

Pleasant Valley, just north of Bishop, is your only lake open on the eastside. If you visit, float tubing is your best bet. Fishing the inlet above the lake going towards the power station is good from shore. Below the dam is mostly artificial C&R section until you hit 5 Bridges Rd.
