Ello' there my FNNrs. Ready for another feesh report from your friendly neighborhood IF2L? lol, yes, I have to do this with almost every single one of my reports, but that is only if I have energy to do it and I'm feeling pretty jolty (made up word) after a 4 hour power snooze. Anyways, let us not side track any longer. Onto the rockfishing report!

Here's the short report for the individuals who do not want to read my report which I put blood, sweat, tears, and 10 minutes of effort into (sarcasm if you can sense it).

SHORT REPORT: 18 anglers; 3 Whitefish, 135 Rockfish, 1 Lingcod (These counts are legit BTW)

LONG REPORT, well sort of lol.

The day started off at 0730 with a timely departure from the harbor. We would leave for an AM run today with a comfortable 18 anglers ready to load up on taco meat! As each angler rigged up his/her set-ups the skipper hastily motored over to our first stop. At this stop and with every stop we were fishing in about 200'+ I'd say about 220' if I recall quickly. My set-up of choice throughout the day was a Diawa Lexa 300, 30lb powerpro x 25lb Seagur fluoro leader, and a Phenix inshore assassin PSW807ML - ISA.

On our first stop the bite was slow for the most part with one or so red, starry, and other misc. fish flying over the rail every 10 minutes. So, it didn't take long for the skipper to make the decision to high tail it out of the first spot and onto the next one.

Second stop, it was at this spot that I began to load up on quality fish such as barber poles, starries, and the oh so very tasty bank perch. I swear this spot was golden. The skipper must of had some positive joo joo or something because the instant I began fishing next to him I got my groove together. The great part about this portion of the day was when my limit began to fill with the assistance of the skipper . He’s cool. If you’re reading this, thank you for the bank perch! They’re freakin’ tasty! At this stop one of my friends also managed to catch her first ever saltwater fish, and it was a bank perch none the less. After pounding this spot for about an hour or so we moved to another.

Third stop, I actually do not recall catching anything that could have even made a decent fish sandwich.

Last stop, this stop was also pretty fun. The usual suspects were here. Bank perch, reds, belindas, starries, Bocs, hell, even a ling came over the rail. Towards the last 40 minutes of this stop one of my friends hooked up again. The fish was a feisty 2lb whitey.

Overall today was pretty kick ***. I’m certain that I caught near double limits but whether all the fish were big enough to make a taco is another story. It was also unique in that I took some friends out who have never fished before, ever, and they nailed a few tasty critters. All in all we walked away with 26 rockfish among the three of us. Fun times… :Big Smile:

On a random note I spent about 40 minutes at the end of the day talking to Scott at the office. Funny guy. I just wish I could have stayed longer lol!

I got to meet one of his pet birds, Slink.

All the best everyone have a very Merry Xmas and New Year. And, since we’re all still here, and not perished as so many believed, get your lazy *** out there during these busy times and fish!!!!!

Thanks JP. I'm glad you liked it. Slink got spooked as I was attempting to feed him.
