ok, you absolutely have to tell me what the difference between sand dabs and small halibut are. I always catch small flatteys and i throw every one of them back because I dont know what the dabs look like. Any easy way to tell?

Oh, and Im looking forward to the pics :D

thanks that helps a lot. you can really tell by how large the dabs eyes are, and the fact that the top fin isnt as long. (btw, sorry to jack your thread. i still want to see your pics  )

What classifies a "breeder class" bass?

Some mentioned in another post that there might be problems when trying to post pics onto the site. It would be better if you hosted the pics outside like on Photobucket.

With regards to "breeder class", I believe he was referring to whether or not the fish was a BIG female capable of spawning lots of fry. So your 2.7lb calico was probably not a huge breeder.

Party boats need high fish counts to bring in the customers. And therefore, the chances of a party boat crew telling anyone to throw back anything is slim.
AND chances of them throwing back any fish that is legal in size and is not a breeder, is NONE. :)

And oh....

If he had told me to throw one back, I'd have chugged a brewskie and given him the bird.....lol
