This has been a very busy week for me…
Work is ramping up nicely for the Holiday Season and there are some personal business I had to handle, so I stayed in town this week to take care of them.

Monday, I took Wingnut Pug to get one of her back tooth extracted. Did you know that getting a tooth extracted for a dog costs as much as getting your own tooth pulled?!?
I found that out and the Pet Insurance don’t even cover it.

Poor thing, not a happy camper afterwards.

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r135/Wingnut32566/Wingnut%208/Wingnut%2010/Wingnut%2011/SWAT1029-7.jpg

Tuesday, I gave my family a ride to the airport and gave them a nice send off. My Mom and Sister are taking my Dad back to Viet Nam for a couple of weeks to visit the old country… possibly for his last time. Personally, I would have taken him to Vegas, but that’s his wish, so be it.

Wednesday was the Iron Chef’s Birthday. So I took her to dinner at our favorite restaurant.
Invited one of her sisters and her aunt to join us. :Big Grin:

Thursday and Friday was beyond crazy, trying to catch up at work after taking a couple days off…

Saturday morning, I went to pay my respects to Dana (Fisherman 57) before heading into the office again.
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r135/Wingnut32566/Wingnut%208/Wingnut%2010/Wingnut%2011/Dana1.jpg

Sunday was my day, I’m going fishing! :Dancing Banana:

I was talking to Robert (Murrieta Angler) earlier in the week and we made plans to hit a new spot where he lost a 30”+ Halibut last week.

I guess the hectic week wore me down, because I woke up Saturday morning with a headache and a slight fever.
It feels like I’m starting to come down with something, so I took like 3000 milligram of Vitamin C and drank a ton of liquids trying to fight it off. That night, the Iron Chef made me a big bowl of Chao (Vietnamese Rice Porridge Soup) and I went to bed early.
I text Robert and told him that if I feel better when I wake up at 4:00am, I will meet him at the A.O. If not, I’m staying in bed and wished him good luck.

4:00am and I actually felt much better… whoohoo, time to hit the road!

I met Roberto in the A.O. parking lot about 5:45am and we started gearing up. A car pulls up in the dark and I said to Robert, “Hey, that looks like John’s (Nipple Twister) Jeep.” Out comes John… SURPRISE!!! Three’s company and we hit the surf together... :Big Grin:

Wow, beautiful conditions! Peak 6’ high tide, moderate swells, very little salad, crystal clear water. Water temp. actually went up a few degrees to about 62 and the wind was minimal. Robert was right, the structure at this beach was insane. A deep 4 ft trough, running the entire length of the beach for at least half a mile. :EyePop:

John and I followed Robert’s lead as we worked our way down the beach. Robert and John were picking off a few Perch here and there and I wasn’t getting any love at all... not even a bump on the LC. After about an hour and a half of constant casting and not even getting a courtesy tap, I motioned to Robert to turn around and head back the other way… Robert waved back and shook his head… he wanted to keep moving further down in the same direction. I grudgingly followed behind…

All I have to say is “THANK YOU” Robert for making the right call! :Applause:

Moments later… with Robert to my right and John to my left, on about a twenty yards section of beach, within a 10 minute span, I got four hook-ups and landed three fish… I can’t even explain it… but I'm not complaining. :Envious:

The first was my Personal Best Corbina that I thought was a White Sea Bass the way it fought. :Big Grin:

Then a nice 25” legal Halibut hit the sand. K.I.A.

Then… a BIG loss… I won’t even go into it. But all three of us were bummed. :Crying:

We worked the area for another hour and I had to leave at 9:00am. Robert and John kept fishing. I think they got more Perch, a few short Halibut and some Bass. Maybe, they will post up some pics of their catch later.

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r135/Wingnut32566/Wingnut%208/Wingnut%2010/Wingnut%2011/SWAT1023-13.jpg

Roberto, you da Man bro! :UDaMan: If you didn’t insist on staying in that area, I would have gone the other way and missed out big time. My Spidey Senses was totally off this morning and you nailed it! Thanks for inviting me to your new hot spot and I just KNOW that Poseidon will bless you with a 30” plus Hali soon!

John, such a pleasant surprise to see your smile this morning my friend. I’m always honored whenever I get the chance to fish with Fabio! :Big Smile: You are one of the few people I fish with that ever see me go down in the surf… :Secret: That’s what I get for checking out the “scenery” instead of paying attention to the surf, hahahaha

… and my Redskins won again today, perfect ending to the week. Have a great week and Merry Christmas everybody! :Big Grin:

Used to many fisherman that focused on them with sandcrabs.

What a great morning session, after some dismal results the last couple sessions at some northern AO’s I had decided to head south and see what develops. After some hurry up “honey do’s” on Saturday I was able to clear the whole day Sunday………..YEAH BABY!
Rolling up to the parking area it appears empty except for two lone vehicles and what looks like a couple shadows with antenna’s sticking up but as I get closer I quickly recognize the figure before me, Arthur and Robert!
After some quick hellos I was ordered to dress ASAP and meet on the water, there was some new AO Intel that required some hard core recon, I’m in!
Seeing the two masters at work in itself was worth the price of admission, and I was also recalling my instructions to SWAT rule #57……….
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/nippletwister_photos/Fishing/1EA41865-70C9-46A8-901A-85170FD7820D-17657-00002A84F7065C31.jpg

Was good just to be out in the water, bring up the rear trying to look for any slight “fishy water” I was flinging all over the place, Robert leading the team to victory we drop right into what he felt was there and the Perch start hittin.
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/nippletwister_photos/Fishing/734052E0-08C7-4C71-BDB7-3B9CDBA4B1A6-17657-00002A8919753141.jpg

I can see the leaders having the same results but with a little more spot adjustment based on Roberts Intel Arthur goes El Bendo! Well, as you have already read he lands some nice fish with one being a PB, was very exciting, Perchin Dave nailed it when he said “the best times are the ones less planned”……..so true, thx Dave.

After a very cool few hours Arthur had prior commitments and had to go……Nice job Commander, your knowledge, persistence and drive brings others to that level, impressive.

Robert and I continue out assault as the tide continues to recede but there are still some known structure we have to hit. Robert grabs some more Perch and a couple shorties and with the next hour or so he has to split as well. After a quick handshake we parts ways, just as he gets away I get a quick hit and it’s FISH ON! Pretty wild run and it l o n g way back to the dry sand I guess I was hoopin and hollering a lot based on Robert recap I landed my first Sand Bass from the surf:

Couple more Perch:

By now the water was getting too shallow and the wind picking up I decided to call it myself……with a grin ear to ear I made my way back down the beach recapping the session in my head……gentlemen, thank you for letting me drop in and tag along………milestone for sure…..thx

Arthur my friend....... You never cease to amaze me with your dedication to your family and to this wonderful sport that has infected our souls for life. Your reports always seem to balance out perfectly every aspect of life proving that it is possible to excel at fishing and business while never neglecting the most important things like family, friends and even your prized little furry companions.
WOW.....You weren't kidding when you told me that your PB bean was a toad. I could hear you screaming "White Sea Bass" when she took that initial bolt for open water. Way to go taking the lead over the entire SWAT team on the legal Halibut count for the year too!
That new structure that Robert located looks amazing and even though you told me that you couldn't believe there wasn't more quality fish in it.......It will stack up sooner or later for sure. It looks absolutely sick and now both you and Robert have a score to settle there on the loss of a few bigger fish.
I plan on a few final assaults before we wrap up 2012 and hope we get a chance to bid farewell to this season and start a new one on the sand my friend.

I wish you and your family all of the best throughout the holiday season......MERRY FISHMAS BROTHA!

Hey Arthur,
Sorry I didn't get to congratulate you properly in my text...was busy with my son's swim lesson. Way to go with the PB bean and legal flattie! I was getting geared up at A.O. #2 wondering if you guys were gonna show up but figured you had made it further down the road...good call! Not that I had a bad session but didn't compare to the damage you guys did. Hope you and Wingnut pug are feeling better. I gotta try that dinner A.O. some day. As good as the Iron Chef is at putting a meal together, I gotta imagine that place is awesome if it was your restaurant of choice.

John,
Congrats on your first sand bass! Always a nice surprise rolling up on some friends when going out on a mission.

Robert,
Great job keeping Arthur on track and getting him lined up for the attack! That 30"+ flattie is making this personal...time to go get that bass-turd! 3rd time's a charm, right!:Thumbs Up:

Thien
Thien, my legal Halibut count for the year stinks... only 9. Compared to last year of 24.
I hit the surf this year about half as much as I did last year, combined with a relatively slow Halibut bite overall this season.
We started out fast & furious with some really good Halibut action from January thru April, but after that, legals have been hard to come by.
I'm already looking forward to next Spring.

Great report as always Arthur. Thanks.
Fair hooking Corbina on the LC is relatively rare Albert, at least in my case, lol. I've only caught two on the LC in five years. I think I got this one on Sunday for this reason... I saw no signs of Sand Crab beds at all that day. Maybe the Bean was hungry and couldn't find enough Sand Crabs to feed on so it decided to chase bait fish. Bad for him, good for me!
Have a Merry Christmas buddy.

Wingnut,
I'm just starting to surf fish for halibut using LCs. I've been searching this site for as much info as possible and it's been very helpful. Can I ask what type of rod and reel you are using? Also, how far are you casting? Thanks for your help.
My favorite set-up the throw hard baits is a Carrot Stix 7' 10" Medium 10-20 lb line rating rod, paired up with a Daiwa Luna 253 or Pluton. You want your rod to have somewhat of a parabolic action to absorb the violent head shakes of the Halibut.
As for the casting, just cast as far as you can and start retrieving, I get most of my hits about half way in all the ups to a few feet in front of me. Always finish off your retrieve...

Pleasant surprise seeing you Bro!
What was that fish you caught, you know the one, where you were screaming like you landed a great White from the surf...
Was it a bass?
Hope you have a wonderful holiday season and if you aint doing anything this weekend, well you know where I'll be...

Take Care & God Bless,

<><
I'm so glad that I woke up Sunday morning feeling good... I really wanted to fish and hang out with you Roberto.
That Corbina was definitely the highlight of my day and the legal Hali was a nice bonus. :Envious:
Thanks again for making the right call... Can't believe that I lost that brute. You are right, when one of us nail that fish, it will be that much sweeter.
I know you will be out there making a run at the S.W.A.T. Leader Board the last couple of week. Good luck bro and I might join us again this weekend.
Merry Christmas to you and the Family. :Big Grin:

Nice Buttandbean. Wanting to fish Corbina this year but it never happened.
Used to many fisherman that focused on them with sandcrabs.

Cute picture of the puppy. Love to read a report like this, with pets, family and friends. There are more important things in our life besides just catching fish. Congrats on your catch and thanks for sharing this with us!
Thanks Alice, I really enjoy reading your reports too... you "get it."
Have a Merry Christmas and best wishes in the coming New Year. :Big Grin:

Glad that we chose the same battlefield Sunday morning. Congrats on your first surf Sand Bass, very cool. :Thumbs Up:
I felt so lucky to get so many consecutive hits after stinking it up to start the morning, lol.
Good luck on the hunt Saturday and I will be anxiously waiting for your update.
Merry Christmas to you & yours my friend.

Well Brotha......yet another successful session in the salt with a couple of great friends!.... Just what the doctor ordered!
I am very happy to hear that you are feeling better! I am also feeling better after almost two weeks of being sick.

I really liked that you included Dana 57 in this report.............through you and his close friends......."He will always be with us"!

Poseidon has definitely shined his blessings down on you my friend......"because you are deserving"!

Thanx for the fine read with pic's Arthur!

"Merry Christmas" and may God's blessings always be with you and your family!

SP Dan <"))><
Fishing is indeed the best medicine. :Big Grin: I'm happy to hear that you have recovered nicely yourself Dan.
Dana will always be in our hearts...
Merry Christmas to you and Rhonda and best wishes in the coming New Year.

Another PB and also a legal hali for Wingnut..... congrats buddy! Def can't get enough of your reports and pics keep 'em coming!

TS
Thank you Steve... it was certainly a good morning in the surf. Merry Christmas to you & yours my friend.

"Work like you don't need the money, Love like you've never been hurt and Dance like no one is watching." That's how to live life... :Big Grin:
Thanks for "getting it" and for your friendship Mike. Merry Christmas to you & yours my friend.
You know me too well buddy, the first thing I yelled when that fish took off running was "White Sea Bass!"
It took off like a torpedo and I was sure it was a Ghost...
You better hit the surf hard the next couple of weeks and protect your lead on the Leader Board bro, Robert is planning to make one heck of a charge...

Hey Arthur,
Sorry I didn't get to congratulate you properly in my text...was busy with my son's swim lesson.

Nice going guys!!!
Don
Thanks Don, and let me be the first to congratulate you on the legal Hali today. :Thumbs Up:
Conditions looks pretty good for the weekend if it doesn't rain hard... maybe we need to head back out there and teach that big Hali a lesson not to mess with S.W.A.T.
Have a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year my friend. :Big Grin:

Sick session Art. Is that the same beach that you took us to when we fish with Robert and John that last time?
Like Sokha said, we spent two days targeting Stripers in the San Fransico Bay for a skunk.
You were right, should have taken your advice and hired a guide. :Rolls Eyes:
I thought for sure you would have taken Lynn to Chaya, but Mr. Chow is an excellent choice too.
Thanks for the Christmas card bro, Merry Christmas to you and yours. :Big Grin:
Same beach bro... it's time... :Secret:
Next time you fish the SF area, hire a guide! Just do it one time, that's all you need.
I actually wanted to go the Chaya, but she wanted to go to Mr. Chow... it's her birthday after all. :Envious:
Have a wonderful Holiday bro. :Big Grin:

Bonus Report -Saturday 12/15 2-Hour Solo Recon Mission.

Came back in town last night... driving home from the airport and it started raining... "Damn, and I wanted to hit the surf in the morning too..." I thought to myself. :Crying: I get a call from Lieutenant Bones informing me that he's spending the day with his kids tomorrow and won't be hitting the surf. No worries I told him, with this rain, I probably won't be either...
I get another call, it's another S.W.A.T. Brother, JerryG... Jerry wanted to fish in the morning also, but couldn't convince the wife to give him a pass to go... sorry Jerry.
A couple of the guys are heading South to hunt for that Monster Hali that Robert and I lost the last couple of sessions down there. It looks like a solo session for me if the weather allows.

I have to work Saturday, so I can only hit the surf somewhere locally for a couple of hours. Got all my gear ready and set my BlackBerry alarm for a 4:30am wake up... Woke up, open the front door and the rain has stopped. I can see partial clear skies... YES, time to hit the surf! :Dancing Banana:

Arrived at the A.O., geared up and made the 1/4 mile hike down to the beach in near darkness. Made my first cast just after 6:00am.

Super nice conditions. Flat 1-2 ft swells in slow intervals, 3' incoming tide rising fast, clear water free of weeds, mild on-shore wind, no bait fish presence. Strange, the air is really cold, but the water doesn't feel too bad, maybe 60-62 degrees or so.

I can only fish until 8:00am... better get to it.

Within 20 minutes, I hooked up with 6 Torpedoes (Smelt) and landed four, with one at least 20 inches, one brute of a Smelt.
Here's one of the four pesky giant bait fish that I landed. They're a nuisance to Halibut & Bass fishing, like what Skipjacks are to Tuna fishing, lol
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r135/Wingnut32566/Wingnut%2012/SWAT1007.jpg

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r135/Wingnut32566/Wingnut%2012/SWAT1015.jpg

Got three short Halibut 18", 20" 21" and one legal 24" Halibut and was out of the surf by 8:00am. Not a bad 2-hour session. :Big Grin:

This one taped out at 21 1/2... almost legal. :Envious:

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r135/Wingnut32566/Wingnut%2012/SWAT1017.jpg

And the legal... Look how lucky I was to get this one... by one hook on the "outside" of the mouth.
Another few seconds and it would have been gone... :Envious:
Still had some Halibut fillets left from last week's K.I.A., so this one got a reprieve.

Gotta love these quick and successful missions... In and out, 2 hours... no trace.

Now I have a dilemma for tomorrow... Head South and try and get redemption for the big Hali I lost last Sunday or back to the same A.O.? Hmmmmmm... decisions, decisions... :Secret:

Enjoy your weekend everybody.

Bonus Report #2 - Sunday 12/16 - Encore Session with da Boyz!

Sunday morning, I decided to head back for an encore session at the A.O. where I caught a legal Halibut the day before (Saturday). This time, with reinforcements. Texting back & forth with Mike (Bones) and Dan (SP Dan) Saturday night, we confirm plans to meet up at grey light.
Then I get another text late in the evening from Sokha (Troublehook), asking if he can come along wherever I was going. I said sure, pick me up at 5:00am and don't be late again... 5:10am and Sokha pulls up in his truck. :Rolls Eyes:
After a 45 minute drive we exit the freeway and Sokha says that his gas light came on and we need to stop for gas...
I look at the horizon and the grey light is slowly creeping up on us. Sokha made up for his tardiness later by buying me lunch.
We pulled up to the A.O. parking area about 10 minutes later. Lieutenant Bones was there patiently waiting for us and greeted us with a smile. :Big Grin: Dan was already down on the beach for the pre grey light assault.

Conditions was similar to the day before, except the swells were a little bigger.
The water quality was great, crystal clear and virtually salad free. :Thumbs Up:
We spread out and hit the surf for a session that lasted from 6:15am until about 10:00am.

No legal Flatties were caught today, but we had a decent fish count.
If my count was correct, it was something like this:
Sokha = Mr. Stinky :Neutral:
Mike = (2) short Halibut
Dan = (1) short Halibut, (2) Calico Bass
Arthur = (2) short Halibut (1) Croaker (5) Smelt

I always have fun sharing the sand with my friends regardless of the fish count. :Big Grin:

Mike, Dan and Sokha... Thanks for joining me for the morning session. As always, lots of laughs, stimulating conversations and the camaraderie is second to none.

Have a productive week everybody - Happy Holidays to all.

Hi ya Arthur,

I had almost headed deep south to hook up with Robert and Don but decided to stay local.
I was so excited the night before, it was like I was checking every detail and getting ready for the BIG event to happen.
So I head to bed and I can't get to sleep....what did I forget??? Does my lure have red painted gills???? I throw my robe on and head down stairs to my garage.
OH NOOOOOO!!... :EyePop: NO RED PAINTED GILLS!!! I bust out the red fingernail polish and painted up the lure's gills......Ok...my gear is 100% ready for tomorrow's assault and now I can get some sleep!
0400 hrs my alarm goes off :Tired: and I live a whole whopping 10 minutes away from the AO. I took my time getting there and it's 0500 hrs now. I did the 1/4 mile hike down to the AO with my head lamp on, and my feet are wet at 0530 hrs and sunrise isn't until 0650 hrs. .
So I commenced fishing in the dark with just a head lamp for light! Just after 0615 hrs I spotted tiny head lights :Flamethrower: working there way down the cliff face in my direction.....WHY...it's the three amigos!

So for the first hour ....not as much as a nibble! But as soon as the BOYZ put there feet on the beach.... it fish on for me...I landed my skunk buster...a Checker side!
A 13" Calico Bass. 10 minutes later....BANG a 15 1/2" Calico, and then in less than an hour

Arthur, congrats on your 10th legal and another amazing day of fishing! A legal and 3 quality shorts in two hour is more than a surf fisherman could ask for :Envious: Also, that 20" smelt is ridiculous. I wasn't aware that they can get that big.
Glad you got to spend another nice day hitting that AO with the Boyz.

Dan, those are some nice calicos! I am on the hunt to catch one of those checkered beasts. I see that you were way out there trying to hit the kelp... I might have to give that a shot next time and see if I can get some love.

Thanks for the report Arthur.. it keeps me itching to get back out there... I finally get to head out this Thursday.

Nice going out there guys! Looks like some sweet conditions. Too bad the bigger models didn't come out and play.

I had almost headed deep south to hook up with Robert and Don but decided to stay local.

Glad you guys all decided to stay away from where I was. I kept looking over my shoulder wondering if you guys would pop up, but Robert got some well needed shuteye, you guys got some great conditions, a couple checkers and some pancakes...I got soaked for a few perch. Pretty rough surf that day, but WAY nicer on Monday. Just wish it woulda gave me another crack at the surf on Tuesday, but weather was not cooperating.

Hope you all have a great holiday!!!

Bonus Report #3 -Saturday 12/22/12

2-Hour Grey Light Mission. Taking Advantage of Good Intel.

The World didn't end... I'm going fishing!

I got a text from Thien (bloox8) yesterday, giving me a complete rundown of his solo mission where he caught multiple Halibut, including TWO legals. :Big Grin:
I haven't been to this A.O. in about two years... to be honest, it's on my list of one of the most undesirable places to surf fish.
But what do you do when you receive reliable and solid intel on the enemy position...? You put it to good use! Sometimes, you have to follow the enemy to the most atrocious of battlefields, to claim victory.

So Mike (Lieutenant Bones) and I decided to drop into this polluted surf zone at grey light to terrorize its toxic residents. Making sure that we put on our special hazmat waders, lol
I have to work today, so we could only fish from 6:00am to 8:30am. A short, but successful mission.

The intel was right on. Clear water with no weeds, a few floating oil slick here and there, minimal surf, high tide at grey light receding rapidly, light bait fish presence. A long and wide 3-4 ft deep trough running along a 300 yards section of beach. Look fishy enough... weapons free, engage.

Overall, it was actually a pretty slow morning. The highlight for me was nailing a barely legal 22" Halibut... unhooking and releasing it... then the very next cast, nail a 24" legal Halibut. Two casts, two legals, gotta love that. :Thumbs Up: Both released.

Final fish count: Two legals and a short in a 2 1/2 hour session, not bad at all. :Envious:

Thien (bloox8), thanks for the great intel soldier! :Thumbs Up: I'm trying to clear some stuff off my Sunday schedule, so hopefully, I will see you tomorrow morning.

Mike, I apologize for being a Fishing Mojo Sucking Vampire... But I did let you fish ahead of me and hit all the holes first... lol

Merry Christmas to all... may Santa brings you everything on your wish list. :Big Grin:

I've had plenty of fun and memorable moments in the surf and this was definitely one of them... :Big Grin:

Thien and I was working the surf about 20 yards from each other, talking and joking around as we moved along the beach.
All of the sudden, a Halibut goes airborne out of the water right in front of us... :EyePop: We looked at each other and said simultaneously, "Did you see that?!?" Thien saw the brown side and I saw the white side, definitely a Halibut. We both froze and looked at each other, waiting for the other to make a cast to the spot... I said to Thien "You first!" Thien made a cast to the exact spot and immediately hooked up. I made a cast to the same spot while Thien was fighting his fish and immediately get a hook up of my own. :Dancing Banana: A double short Halibut hook up, that was too cool. :Thumbs Up:

We beached our two short Flatties and as Thien was reaching for his fish, it flopped violently and one of the hooks of the LC got stuck in his hand. Rookie mistake. I immediately pressed my hand down hard on the fish to stop it from flopping and causing more damage. Quickly grabbed my pliers with my other hand and plucked the hook out of his hand before it could get burried deeper. It ended well, but could have been a lot worse. Thien, I'll send you the bill later... :Big Smile:

This is definitely going to go in my book of fun and memorable experiences :High Five: It was my first time seeing a halibut just shoot out of the water and I can't believe that it happened in a trough about 4-5ft out. Pretty awesome. Glad we both got to take control of the situation and get a double hook-up. I was so excited by what happened that I didn't worry about getting attacked by the LC-armed halibut :Lol.

BTW, those are really nice patterns you got there. I am thinking about getting an airbrush machine soon so I can start making some cool designs. I hope I am skilled enough to do it.

Great reports as usual arturito!
Those trophies are looking sweet too man!
The most lost lures has to, i mean has to go to Robert. I remember he lost 5-6 in one session!
Friendly competition is always nice, brings out the best of us :D Im going to have to make a last minute push this weekend if the weather permits for the "most backlash category". lol
Thank you all for the kind christmas wishes, always brings a smile to my face.
I'll see you guys soon, Merry Christmas everyone!

Sweet looking custom LC's too, very nice.

Good times Thien, good times... :Big Grin:
I still remember the first time I ever saw a Halibut go airborne... I couldn't believe my eyes until it jumped again a few seconds later.
Yes, keep your hands away from the LC when it's attached to the Halibut!
But at least you didn't actually get bit by one, like me...

Very nice BSP pattern. Does it have olive green on the back? That would make it PERFECT.

Nice to see a BSP pattern that wasnt half-assed in a sweatshop :Dhttp://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r135/Wingnut32566/Wingnut%2012/JKim2.jpg
Yup, I really thought that LC could have done a much better job on their BSP pattern.

That's what it's all about John. :Big Grin:
Bummer to hear that you've been under the weather my friend.
Now that you're well again, get back in the trenches soldier! :Big Grin:
My schedule is so unpredictable right now that if I do fish, it would be at the spurt of the moment kinda thing and only for short sessions. We'll be in touch.

Quite a few of us are out there making the last charge at the Leader Board Frank.
There is some fast & furious action going on at the moment.
Have a Happy New Year bro. :Big Grin:

Here's one more legal Halibut to add to my dismal count this year...
Got 3 shorts and one legal this session.

Barely legal... but it counts! :Envious:

Solo session, nobody around.

The release...

Look at the trench at the top of the screen. The drop off at the edge of the sand is 4 ft deep.
This is where I caught one of the three short Halibut this session. Less than 10 feet in front of me...

And my favorite Christmas gift...?
A brand new pair of Simms Artic Bootfoot waders from the Iron Chef. Yes!!! :Dancing Banana:

Very nice work out there sir! And, great job Thien, getting this intel to Arthur...although you got dang lucky with that hook! :EyePop: Kinda thing that usually ends up happening to me:LOL:...or those near me, sorry Robert, Terry and Nate!. I guess my "bad karma" has a buffer zone for those in close proximity.:Rolls Eyes:

Last Tuesday on my way out of town, I stop to get gas on the way to the airport.
The pump was running and clicked off automatically when the tank was full. I reach for the handle and was about to squeeze the lever to top off, then I saw the total when the pump stopped.
Hello again Dana... :Big Grin:

$57.00 bucks? Now I know it wasn't the Prius that you were filling up.

Nice job on racking up the legal Halibut count to end the year Commander. I think that's 5 legals in about two weeks??? :EyePop:

Looks to me everybody else is playing for second on the leaderboard. :Envious:

It was nice seeing you and Lynn at midnight mass. :Big Grin:

Not such a great season in the surf as far as the fish count goes, but plenty of great moments that's for sure. :Big Grin:
I wish I could take credit for the artwork on those LC's, but my artistic level maxed out at painting dots on lures. The custom work are being done by a very talented SCSF/FNN member.
Hope you had a nice Christmas Dan and Happy New Year to your & yours.

Hi ya Arthur,

Another excellent report Sir!
I am sooooooo :Envious: envious over the the knock-down gorgeous......custom painted LC Lures that you own!

I would expect to view only them in an art show or a county fair with the first place ribbon attached!

Well....... another great season has passed and the tally for this season was exceptional!
I hope that Poseidon continues to bless us all!

Thanx for the fish report brotha!
