I cannot say for sure if they feed their fish heavily before they stock....but how would feeding your fishing before they are stocked, kill them in the transitional process from hatchery to lake???
I know for a fact they do not stock every week, i grew curious when i would go fish behind the bait shop and fish and do very well, i could see schooling fish in the distance with my polarized glasses, surfacing fish, and an overall higher activity level. soooooo i decided to stake the place out! got my hunting scope which is a simmons 5-15x40mm. I found a spot with great visibility of about 80 percent of the lake from about a half mile away and began the stake out... off and on from wed till thurs i watched to see them stock trout. I began wed early 7 am till 11 then took a lunch came back a little before 12 and waited till 4pm, nothing.....Same thing the next day.....I could have missed the stocking during my lunch break but highly unlikely. Also the man in the golf cart told me they stock on thurs so i highly doubt they stocked it another day....unless he is lying which could very well be the case. lol, also; jess ranch says they are coming up in the world with better fishing and overall better facility and rules...what a joke, they stock 500 pounds of fish in each lake when they actually stock. these people are scam artists at their best. the hospitality is bad, customer service is terrible and the lady at the front desk needs to chill out. :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::Twisted::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

This post HAS been edited not to hide my outburst, but to clear the name of those involved. As I apologized later in this thread, I made a unprofessional and hasty emotional response to this thread which was unfair, unjust, and wrong to those accused. I do not expect acceptance from this, but I do want the name mentioned to be cleared of all connection to this thread and clear the Ranch's name which did not deserve this kind of exposure after all the work we have put in to build it up. Once again, my apologies to all involved and this will not happen again.

I don't have a problem with the bad fishing reports that have been posted recently because every place has its on and off days. In fact, I appreciate the bad reports because it'll deter fishing pressure which means less crowds and more quality fish for me to catch. I do have a problem with people talking out of their *** just to make point that they don't like a place. If you don't like Jess, then don't go! It's as simple as that.

Jess kicks ***. I've caught quality trout, catfish and bass from this place and the staff have always been respectful, friendly and courteous. IMO....hands down way better fishing then the other pay places.

@ Jig Master - Why are you so upset man? I mean, it's not even real fishing. It's a pay lake. You gotta keep in mind they always win in the end. Sure people will have better days, and on some rare occasions great days catching fish, but in the end all they're after is your dollar. Not just Jess - they're all the same. Pay to play, but ultimately lose in the end...kinda like a casino. You gotta get away from the market lakes if you want a truly honest fishing experience.

I have fished Jess Ranch a bunch of times. I think it is a great value in my HO. The best I ever did was 3 big trout and I quit and went home because I did not need more food. The lady in the ticket shack is cool and there for the customers. I am 71 years old and my legs do not work good anymore. The lady in the ticket shack offered for the guy in the golf cart to come and ride me to the spot I wanted to fish not a bad deal.
Go to Jess Ranch and have a good time its worth your money and you do not have to deal with a bunch of jerks while you fish. IMHO

I said I was done with this post but I only have a couple things to say. I want to formally apologize to all the anlgers who use this site as a place for facts. I also want to apologize to everyone who had to read this. I let my personal opinion bleed into the business side of things and for that I personally apologize. I could have handled it better and will from here on out. It by no means represents the Ranch as a whole. We, however, will not tolerate any liable or derfomation of character toward our business, our friend's business', and our competitors business'. i decided to stake the place out! got my hunting scope which is a simmons 5-15x40mm. I found a spot with great visibility of about 80 percent of the lake from about a half mile away and began the stake out...

I have and will continue to fish stocked trout out of city or "pay" lakes, difference is its with my kids and family and I make no illusions that its anything more than catching dumb hatchery fish.

I prefer to actually "fish" in more uncontrolled circumstances ... such as the Kern River, the Sierras, and places like Perris, DVL, and Skinner. It's a lot more fun in nature as far as I am concerned.

There is nothing wrong with fishing the pay to fish lakes. I feel very lucky that I can fish Silverwood regularely along with BBL and others, and I've also been blessed enough to spend way too much time in Heaven (aka the Sierra's). But I still recall many great days at Irvine. I understand how lucky I am to be able to fish a great lake like Silverwood regularely but some can't visit as many lakes as I or you have and as long as you take care of mother nature wherever you happen to be I think the experience can be the same.

man do i miss fishing the kern river, water flow has been soooo bad :( used to fly fish there all the time. as for the sierra's, i grew up fishing them. been fishing there for about 18 years, anywhere from 2-5 times a season, and 1-2 times off season chasing those 5-10 browns moving up the upper owens from crowley. ive also horse-backed the back side of mt. whitney for 5 days and caught more golden trout than i could count. i love fishing the west fork for some native trout. i also fish the colorado river for smallies and large mouth, super fun there, i hooked a 47.3 pound cat there last summer, fishing a half of a mack. yeah i have a boat seal, do you? yeah 6:00 in line, lake is barely active with weekend warriors this time of the year. sunday is best for me. if ya dont have a boat i guess we can fish together :( would defeat the purpose of a fish-off i guess lol. cant reveal me to the public though LOL.

I kayak or tube the lake but am not getting into a fish off with anybody. Bragging about who's the best fisherman is about the most annoying thing I see on these websites, just not my gig. Yesterday was a blast with the striper master TO. First time striper fishing and paid attention and took notes all day from TO, the man knows his stuff. Learned more in a day with TO about striper fishing than I would have learned on my own fishing for years. Best money I have ever spent on fishing lessons and tricks. Fishing was tough as water had been added during the night and the bite was off, then the wind came up but we still brought feesh home for feesh tacos and more. I even caught a two fer. All green carp caught were released to be caught another day all stripers were slayed.

Water level changes at the Wood is a daily occurence! Wind at the Wood is a daily occurence, although last couple weeks have been light.

The fish cleaning station was closed/out of order so I had to occupy the kitchen sink to do the fileting at home.

Cleaning station has been closed for a couple weeks, I think TO must have blown it up with one of his previous trips. You won't see anymore boils at Silverwood this year (unless it's a big one smashing a trout), that bite is dead and buried till next summer or perhaps late spring.
