Good job on the crankbait fish! Some how many fish i hook always shake it off.

Thanks. It's probably due to my word choice.

 I can't help you there. All I can say is that you need a new technique to entice your prey.

Thanks. The key is to keep the pressure and to not crank the fish in aggressively. I like to play my fish to the shoreline, but there's always a pretty high chance that you'll lose your fish to a headshake when it comes to cranking.

Yea, it happens once the fish bites the crank then it yanks the rod and there it goes

Semi-tight drag and play em' is all I can offer as advice. You'll get the hang of it after several trips. lol during my first 5 or so crank sessions I had a 60% landing rate and often times the fish were just skin hooked.

Nice fish if2l, someone is loving that square billed bait aye? Stop and go or burning it?

Try a rod with a softer tip.

[QUOTE=Trial and Error;642358]Nice fish if2l, someone is loving that square billed bait aye? Stop and go or burning it?

Thanks. I tend to burn in my lures in but sometimes I will slow it down to a steady wind. My philosophy with cranking is if you lay the crank in the right spot and the fish is in a reaction mode then he/she will take it. If something screaming past the fish spooks it instead then it wasn't meant to be lol.

I'm so stubborn with the reaction fishing that someone would have to beat me to throw a finesse set-up.

Reaction fishing is how I started bass fishing, now I stick more to finesse.

Is that a River2Sea crank?

It's a Bomber Square A. I'll eventually give finesse more attention, but for now reaction bites are satisfying me quite well.
