Took a friend of mine, Courtney out Tuesday night for some light tackle action. He and his buddy Todd were out here from North Carolina on business.

We launched out of Huntington Harbor as usual, and headed over to the breakwater. The seas were a little choppy from the typical afternoon wind, but a kind skipper on the radio let me know that they were waning.

The ride over was quick and we set out trolling rods to locate the fish in the choppy water. The bite was a lil less favorable than past posts-Prolly cuz it was low tide but we were able to consistently hook either macks or shorty ‘cudas. No bonito at all today.

We were using U/L Ugly sticks with Shimano Symetre reels and 6lb test.

These guys are bass fishermen and were surprised at the feistiness of our local salties.
Todd caught something quite large on the mini setup. That thing was pulling line like CRAZY! We were laughing our azzes off! He was BEND-O'd!!!! :D

Most fish were being caught right of the south end of the breakwall, but the waves on the outside were less than favorable, so we anchored up right on the rocks near the end.

Here I switched to my dart head Gulp jerkbait in Nuclear Chicken color. This thing was killer right up until the sun went down Nailed Calicos, Cudas, and macks on it.

We had a great sunset, and then a KILLER moon rise from over the mountains.

After the sun went down, I switched to a drop shotted Gulp pearl white 3 shrimp. I used an Owner #1 circle hook. The short calis LOVED this thing! At one point I was 3 for 3! I also caught some mack with this setup.

The bite slowed around 8:30, as did the wind, so we headed home.

Fun quick trip for all.

Once again….I LOVE owning my own boat!!!!

good going guys. . just wondering, how long is the ride when you launch from huntington harbor? seems like a shorter trip out if you launch from long beach,... i think at davies?

You know B20, I just like the short drive and easy launch of HH. I haven't tried others yet, to be honest. I am coming from GG, so its pretty convenient to hit the 22 W to Bolsa-Chica and right on Edinger. I thing I would have to wind my way thru L.B. to get there, no?

The ride over from HH is like 5-10 minutes. It's really not too far at all at 30mph! :D

Hey Kev, just because my poles don't have super heroes in tights on them doesn't mean they can't be ultra light! LOL!!!! :P :P :P

Nice work Greg!!!

I'll be out at the Wall tonight and see what's going on. The water has really rolled in the past week so hopefully the bass are now adjusted!!!

Still working my boat after the pounding we took on the last Clemente trip. Broke the hold downs for the TM batteries. Hope to be back out in the next week or so.

When you gonna get that bow mounted Trolling Motor so you can fish that wall proper and start pulling off some of them big bass out there
