Hi guys!. Just registered in this great forum and want to share some pics of the little bullies I found at Lincoln Park lake.
I usually don't pay attention on those little water holes, but this time I was looking for some stress relief at the park meanwhile awaiting turn at DMV across the street. I usually carry one fishing combo on my truck and I decided to give a try to that spot. And oh surprise!, there's a lot of fish in that lake!. Plenty of cats and bass in there!.
I was told that is possible to catch two digits bass at that lake, I don't know if its true, but with light lines sure you can get tons of fun in that place.
Here some pics;

Velcome... Dude I can't believe you actually got those damn things to bite a square bill! I guess it's just the transition time that gave up the bites. Nice work.

Well.. I have to say that almost in each hard place to get a bite, usually are those shallow cranks the ones to respond. Same happened at Legg, another tough place to entice the bite.
I have special faith in the shallow cranks fire tiger and shad pattern. Another lure in which I have had success is the rattler type in silver and white and/or yellow. I went 4 times this past week and I had 4 fish landed and two lost almost on shutter time! lol!... I was using plastics and spinners in the mix of choices. And were the cranks and the rattler the only lucky ones.

I hope to keep posting reports from this lake!. And BTW; not always going to DMV is a bad move! lol!..

I just started goin there the last couple of weeks, and havent caught one fish. That little puddle is tough (At least for me!). Ive tried shaky head and drop shotted plastics, 1/4 oz rattle baits, small shallow square bills... NOTHIN!!! The good thing is, its literally a 5 minute drive from my house, so I dont mind puttin in the effort.

Yes! its been tough lately. I lost a good one a couple of nights ago, just at the moment I tried to land it. Easily a four pounder. Yesterday I left the lake without a single bite.
And of course!, there's a lot of action there!. I saw pics of what I was told it was a nine pounder. No april's fool or Dia de los inocentes.

I went back to Lincoln yesterday and today.. I caught one and lost one on each day..
The lures of choice were a rattler(Kinami Baits) and a square bill(KVD). Sorry!, no patience for plastics!, as most of the guys do at the place..

Nice job dude! It looks like storm front really turned the bite on!

It could be that, but I guess is more like if the warmer weather its activating the bite.

I went today to the lake. First cast and bam!... Sadly the knot was not strong enough and I lost what appeared to be a 4 pounder or more. I lost the lure of the last pic, the square bill.
The bass through out two hours jumping from time to time trying to spit the lure out. I hope that bass gets rid of the lure soon.

Sure they do! Lol... Was there today.. No luck at all but at least fought one that I finally lost.
Used a Norman Fat Boy, and guess which color!...Yup!.. Yellow!..
Found that Fat Boy and a Lucky Craft's Bevy Shad in a branch that I pulled out to retrieve one lure that I lost.

In the pics the Lucky craft as it came up.. The hooks looked totally gone due to rust.

Went today to Lincoln. Couple bites with one landed. Lure; a lipless of Kinami.
A weird episode with that lure, it was declared lost due to a snag in one of my trips to Lincoln. That time was fishing with my brother. He did not notice I lost that lure, he was fishing about 40yds away.. It was after half an hour or so that he came to me he asked if I could pay for one beer for him. He snagged my lost lure less than an hour since I lost it! Lol!..

Do you guys catch and release? Otherwise there will be nothing left in those waters!

Could you eat something from such dirty and pollute waters?... If you don't, why should I??... I usually catch and release everything at Castaic, don't see why I shouldn't do it here!. Come on dude!..

Yup!.. A little bit darker than usual but plenty of action!.. I lost one and saw a big one chasing bait on the surface. I was trying with plastics but nothing!.. so I returned to my old buddies! Lol!..

Was at Lincoln this evening... I was skunked but my fishing buddy wasn't! Lol!..

When I arrived he was about leaving but finally decided to stay a little bit more having a fun time. He was trowing plastics. When he saw I got a bite in my hard bait he switched to a little rapala and then,.. Bam!.. In about one hour or so he caught four fish. The biggest was about three pounds.
Absolutely all those fish are still swimming at the lake, so please put aside the C&R issues.

39547395483954939550Man, that sucks about that nice fish bein dead. I wonder what killed it? Im thinkin of buyin a bag of live crawdads and dumping it into Lincoln, so they can have somethin that would help em get some calcium in their systems.

Nice catch on your fish, by the way!

Can you share your technique on retrieve with the little cranks? I am new to the crankbait world of bassin! Thanks!

Also, do you think a small luckycraft would work well for them?

BTW, im not a poacher, you can look me up on bdoutdoors and scsurffishing. Im mostly a salt fisherman that is trying to get back into FW!

It's not about a special technique, I guess... To me, it's more like knowing the places where you usually fish.
Lately i've been more successful than 2-3 months ago, when I started to fish Lincoln Park lake, when i was losing lures in a bigger ratio that catching fish. As well as I've been reducing my amount of different lures to use at that lake.

After countless small catches, I finally got a bad *** catch!!..
I was there until 10:00 pm.. When I was ready to call it skunk, suddenly.. BAM!!.. A strike!, this beauty saved my night!..

In 6# line on my light combo, it was a pleasure to hear my drag for about three minutes!...

P.S.
After a short therapy, my beauty swam away..
