IMHO a great rod for 20 bucks is the BPS microlite spinning rod. its a good price and good all around. I have 2 of them and till this day i use them when fishing bait. and sometimes jiggin when i dont want to take my more expensive gear. a lil heavy but good sensitivity!

I got a ul pflueger Echelon rod/reel combo. Bought it at the end of last season. Got it for 60 bucks. Looking to.get $20 for it. LMK

I'm glad to see that you're getting some good equipment for your sister. Kids can get discouraged at fishing when they're given cheap equipment to use.
