I just wanted to share with my fellow tubers my friend's (Kirkboat) system he has designed. I know it has been seen before on here and I just wanted to show mine off. I love this thing and am blown away by the detail he puts into one of these. It really is a piece of art as far as these go and if anyone is intersted in one he will custom make them to your needs. Here are a few pics. (Comments below pics)

These are pics of the first version Kirk made for me, after fishing it a couple times I realized I wanted my sonar mount a little farther back so he re-adjusted my left side and in the following pics you will see the difference. Notice location of pole holders and the sweet bends on the front tubes and the transducer mounts.......pretty cool, eh?

These things are really light and notice all the room left behind the seat. Like alot you you I have had many different types of racks, from crude homemade things for my old Caddis tube to Aarons sweet design for Outcast boats. This one is so far my favorite.
http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k582/teryherm1/100_0048.jpg
These systems utilize the Bass Pro rod holders which Kirk mills and seperates and uses seperately, pretty friggin sweet.

Notice the rivets? Not just glued but riveted too. No nuts and bolts holding the sonar mount anymore....rivets. And that little aluminum nut you see (with small cable leash)is what the back connects to on the rear D-Ring with a specially mounted eyebolt.

The rear two ends can hold rods or a net if ya want and Go Pro mounts can be added for those of you who like to video yourself. If anyone is interested in one of these beauties feel free to send me or Kirk(kirkboat) a pm we will be happy to answer any questions you have. Tight lines and cheers:Beer Toast:

Not quite sure if helps with the weight I would think It will less PVC , but we use the holes to secure the rack to the d rings around the tube.

It is almost half the weight plus it gives good drainage and it looks way cool....

Yeah, that 1" pvc is a little heavy but with the holes you put in there lighten it up alot, and yes it gives it a custom look!

I have not done one for a ocd...I would have to see the tube to see if it is possible...

It is a nice setup and the holes look cool, but weight reduction would be no more than about 1/10th.

I have a pair of ODC420's and this setup will work just fine on one. I have tried several different configurations, and just about anything you can come up with will fit the 420.

I built mine based off the pictures cause I love getting my hands dirty and figure out how things are built. When people ask I let them know it's based off kirks design so I give credit to where it's due. I built mine because I needed a smaller set up that took up less space and use what i had already lying around the house. Although the holes aren't straight I did it freestyle. the one thing I don't like is how the camera isn't as stable as the othe setup. As far as fish finder and battery I ran the power wire down the PVC pipe to a dry bag that goes behind the seat which helps hold the net in the back. And keeps the pockets clear for tackle. This set up is the best yet. Really functional and sturdy the just the strap holding the rod

Post a picture and I can look at it to see if you can add a release system that would also stablize your camera...

Sweet Low Profile design Kirkboat! How do the rod holders work so far back? Seems like you would not have as good of a perifrial view of the rod tips.

Does the setup mean that your tube needs to be inflated at all times since the rig is connected to the float tube?

The racks are removable and take about a minute to take on and off...I have two for sale now..You can see them in the ads section...

I redid my previous rod rack replica of what Kirk made and just wanted to share how it turned out.. Thanks for the help Kirk! Still trying to find a better way to mount the straps for the front though..

I actually got it from another chat room that a few here are also a part of, the only thing I don't like is the price of the system!

Love the designs! My cousin and I just picked up our first float tubes and are planning our rack build soon. I'm curious how these rigs connect with the d-ring on the tube. Any chance one of you can post a photo of the other side of the aluminum nut - the eye bolt that connects to the d-ring? Thanks!

Kirkboat just finished a custom rack for my new Prowler. I had him incorporate a mount for my Drift Ghost camera and it turned out great. He can customize a rack just about anyway you want. Super stable and top quality build at a great price in only a few days...:Thumbs Up:
