Went out for a short morning session today. Got the the location at 6:30am and was greeted by calm, glassy conditions. There was still a good amount of eel grass floating around. I'm beginning to think that this location is naturally weedy because of all the eel grass beds lining the submerged rocks. Anyways, continued to work the lc while trying to manage the weeds. I cast beyond a couple of visible boiler rocks and as I began the retrieve, I could feel the lc bumping into submerged rocks. I paused for a second to prevent my lc from snagging or getting wedged between any rocks and just as I start to continue my retrieve, I get a hit. Nice! :Big Grin: I'm starting to get better at recognizing the tell tale signs of a halibut, and I knew I had one hooked up due to the head shakes and the way it would take line. After a short battle, I was able to slide it up on the sand. My first thought was that it could be a legal but it would be close! Taped out to barely 22"! I'll take it! :Big Grin: Snapped a few quick photos and sent it on home to grow bigger. Fished on for a little while longer but the tide started coming in fast so called it a day. I was happy to land my first legal on this new setup! I feel like i'm slowly getting closer to the larger models:Twisted:
