So, this will be a little short...at least by my standards.
Went out a few days before HG4 since I wouldn't have much time to fish during the event. Went out last Friday locally and managed a couple YFC(not pictured) and the smallest bsp I've ever caught on an LC. I can't believe I had this thing hooked in the mouth! :EyePop: Greedy little guy.

Sunday the 14th was my birthday. As a gift, my wife bought me the Olympus TG-1 waterproof camera so I don't have to go digging through my backpack for a camera anymore...even though I haven't had much to photograph this summer. Went to a favorite haunt and managed to beat the skunk on my second cast.
A feisty torpedo.

Soon followed by another torpedo and a YFC.

All of these were caught before the sun even came up so I THOUGHT it was gonna be a stellar outing...so I thought. Ended up being the only fish I caught.
Not even a bump after that for 3 hours, and to top it off, because the tide was so high, I was fishing off some rocks that are normally way behind me. Not paying attention, I managed to slam my LC in the rocks on my backcast, not once, but twice...and cracked them in two!!!! BONEHEAD!!!!!!! Two LCs down, no more takers, and it was time to call it a day.
But DAMN...was it a nice morning out!

Went out Wednesday for a late morning quickie and, because the salad was thick, switched up to a dropshot. Managed a YFC and a pancake. At least I got a flattie which have been a little scarce for me this summer.

Today, I had to run errands and meet a friend for lunch. I only had an hour to fish and when I got out, at about 10:30, the wind was blowin too hard to fling the LC. I figured Fishshep has been having way too much fun with the juvi pancakes lately and it was time to join in and flung the dropshot again. After 45 minutes and no hits, I was about to call it a day when I get a bump. I was thinkin..."wait, that was a bite," gave it some time to chew and it started pulling. I drive the hook home and fully anticipated nothing to be there but to my surprise, the rod goes full bendo...woohaaah!!!! Game on! I felt some decent weight but figured it was probably a chunky YFC. Then I feel those key headshakes, but still try and convince myself that its nothing big...just phantom hopes. Sure enough I see gold, or in this case flattie brown, washing up in the whitewater. I was using light line so I start babyin it a bit, seeing that this thing is a nice legal. After about four trips up the whitewash, I finally get her beached.
Tapes out at 25" and I send it on her way after some glory shots.

Not bad for about an hour.
Hope everyone has as much fun as that tomorrow!!! See you out there! :Big Grin:
