ILL PHIL

Hey fellas, this is my first time posting on the saltwater side. I recently moved from Seattle, and all I could think about was how far the nearest lakes were from LA! Then one day while gettin my much needed tan on at the beach, a light bulb went off:Idea:! I CAN FISH HERE TOO!
10/7 On Sunday I went with the family on a swim/tan outing to Marina Del Rey, and brought along my gear. We got there about 2.30pm I honestly wasn't expecting to catch anything just wanted to give it the old college try. First cast, I felt something that I knew for sure wasn't just me hitting bottom or waves. After a few more casts I pulled out my first GLORIOUS bsp! After that I was getting a hit EVERY SINGLE CAST!!! I couldn't believe it! I was pulling them out maybe every 5th or 6th cast! I was having such a good time, I barely noticed the crowd of people behind me cheering me on :Big Grin:
At one point something hit that was a little different than the rest. It fought much harder than the bsp. Turned out to be a Yellowfin Croaker, also a first for me.
This was our sunday dinner!

I had such a good time on sunday, that I went after work to the same spot on monday. Got there about 5ishpm, and to make a long story short, I had an equally successfull day on monday. Sorry no pictures, I will get better at that.
10/10
Went to the same spot after work today, got there about the same time, and noticed a difference in conditions right away. High tide was peaking and very high. Very windy/choppy waters. Lots of salad. I worked the beach up and down, but didn't even get so much as a nibble for an hour. It was getting cold and the sun was setting (spectacular), so I started to make my way back to where I started to leave. I kept casting out about every 100 yards I walked just for the hell of hit, and on one cast I thought I felt a nibble. Cast out again, and hook up a small bsp. Let him go and try a few times again, but produced nothing. At this point Im telling myself the sun has set, its really windy and I am cold, and at least I didn't skunk. So I packed it in and took off.
My theory is that everyday the tide changes by about an hour (later), and my peak hours would have just been starting today when i was leaving. :My Two Cents: What do you guys think?
Also on a side note, I would really like to make some fishing buddies, none of the guys I work with fish:Sad:. Does anyone want to meet up and fish sometime? :High Five:
:ninja edit: Also wanted to thank everyone for your contributions to this forum, I have learned almost everything I know about surf fishing from you guys. ROCK ON!
