Our cousins from Reno and us from Newbury Park met this past Wednesday at Mammoth for our annual fall fishing trip. So Thursday morning we decided to hike to the inlet at Convict Lake. Left to right, Bob, Annette, Bryan, Sharon, Dick, Amy, Hampton and Buck.

Perfect weather for a hike and fishing...some shots on the way.

That "boardwalk" as you approach the inlet is nice.http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g13/morfgrub/free%20day/DSCF0654.jpg

Fishing wasn't w/o but what we caught were nice size. Here's hampton checking out one that went around 14 inches.

We're not very good at taking photos of the fish, most of the time we forget or the camera is away from the action.
On the way back, Amy tries a spot off a huge fallen tree. Yes, she caught a real nice one...really!http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g13/morfgrub/free%20day/DSCF0658.jpg

In the afternoon, we went to Lake Mary and it was low...and yet, the tricle of water coming in from Lake George had trout trying to swim upstream. So we left, and went to the Mammoth Brewing Company tasting room. Boy, that "Double Nut Brown" is very interesting! Friday morning we went to Lake George. It got cold and wind gusts made it tough, but in the 2 1/2 hours we hung out, we caught a dozen nice rainbows and Sharon caught a little brookie.

We drove down into Red's Meadow to try Sotcher Lake but with all the new fall downs from the big wind storm earlier it was difficult to just walk around the lake. Annette caught one here on a thomas bouyant and that was about it. Wish we could have taken more photos but we're lucky we got these :Big Grin:

Where is the last picture taken ... the one in front of the fallen tree ... beautiful spot to fish even if you don't get a hit. Thanks for the great pics!

My son's first "hike" was to the back of Convict. He thought it was the coolest thing to run on the footbridges on the backside acting like he was a train. He was 3 years old. Thanks for sparking that memory.

That was an awesome trip. The next time you go I would like to provide some sinkers that will be perfect for the type of fishing you do.

Thanks for the report. It looks like you had a good trip.

I'm chaffing at the bit to get up there later in the season.

Hi fish4birdies,

Nice report and pics. Convict is fast becoming my favorite for a 'bigger' lake. Tubing .... didn't flip all the way to the inlet but will next year for sure !!

George ..... Mamie was pretty hot while I was there !! No Dogs allowed running loose at George according to their posted signs !! Poor Doggies !!

thanks,

JapanRon

NEWBURY PARK! I've only lived here since 1968. I thought I knew everybody from N.P. Much bigger town than it used to be. You went from my town, to my fishing spot at Convict Lake. LOL! Looks like you all got some nice trout. Great pictures! I'll be fishing the Covict inlet 11-2-12. Can't wait to get back up there. Thanks for the report! Go Panthers!
