Another Great Fun event.

Thank you all for showing up, I for one had a blast…on the water and off : )

These events always supply lasting memories for me…I hope they do as well for everyone else



Special thanks to the following:

Cutbait: for showing up for the after fishing festivities and handling the weigh in. That was very appreciated, it was great to have U present…wouldn’t have been the same w/o U : )

Bob & Hiro for handling the raffle for me. That’s a big deal…these guys pooled all the prizes together into the right amount of prizepacks to attendee’s…NO SMALL FEAT.

(another special thanks to Hiro for his generous contributions of B71 lures and tackle-seemed like every prize pack I went to contained one of them sweet topwaters)

Tammy & Mark: Pyramid lake management – for helping me arrange to have the event at wonderful lake pyramid and there generous contributions of 2 full park entries and launch and 1 free boat rental…..can’t thank you enuff…those prizes were well received : )

Seems like most people caught fish which brings a huge smile to my face when I think of that…

The few that didn’t land any, well I’m sure the next time out u’ll have your revenge…

I want to give a HUGE round of applause for all this years winners…at times it was tuff out there but U made it happen….and that’s what fishin is about….makin it happen….makin’ some memories…

I have some great ones from this event as well…



Though one of the trophies went back home with a Fresno boy…one of the Fresno boys went home a little light…

NOT from his fish counts as he did pretty well out there on the water…BUT…

FROM HIS WALLET….his wallet went home a little light…

He and I had a side bet….last year he beat me for 20 frogskins……this year we upped the annie…to 40 dineros….

And it was CLOSE….the biggest fish gets it between us….

I beat him by a meager 1 ounce but that 1 ounce seemed like a lb as Donald stuffed his 530 Pesos into my shirt pocket..


Awwww revenge for beating me last year : )


Another tip of the Hat goes to Hiro…my fishing buddy…he had to give up his prized KPN topwater lure StriperBOWL champion trophy this year to Karlow but he held it for an unpresidented THREE YEARS….three overall wins for my buddy will be hard to top but that gives us ALL something to strive for… and those wins came with a “Heaviest stringer trophy as well for TWO of those years !
A huge round of applause for him as well : ) nice job Hiro : )

Small fish honors went to Razor with his prized 6 ounce stripey…for that he took a nice LIGHT UP spinning reel…pink in color to boot….donated by Steve Galion from Galions corner…

Congrats Razor…we hope to see that reel lighting up at a night event soon enuff : )

As for my report:
Hit the water 1st thing..

Went and searched out those coveted topwater piggies that I was fortunate enuff to get on the Thursday b4…..worked it for about 45 mintutes to no avail..

Unfortunately no dead water topwater action was to be had : (

I had already told Hiro that we weren’t going to be stubborn and if it didn’t develop…we had to go to a troll…

We did rock sissors paper as to who’s turn would be 1st on the troll and I won (Insert applause here).

1st hookup didn’t take very long….

Hmnn…this is a good unit…OR a double hookup


Turns out…it was a TRIPLE hookup !


AND…Multiple species..


2 fat stripers and 1 Smallmouth Bass


SWEET !

That actually was my 1st triple hookup and those 2 stripers were cookie cutter in size and it turned out that 1 of those fish landed me my personal big fish victory over that Fresno Boy DK (Donald).

Saw Bob roll by with CLSmooth and they watched as I tuna slung all three feesh

Next few subsequent passes kept yielding hookup after hookup but smaller grade feesh…


Pass after pass..

We saw DK and Bob Marley making the same runs and hooking up as well…

Till finally that Bass boat (that DK mentioned previously) honed into our zone and camped on our troll run trajectory….putting a grinding hault to out continual slay (Insert: AWWW here)

Tried a few other relative zones and kept scratchin a fish out here and there but still smaller grade.

Decided to leave them biting looking for bigger grade….that turned out to be a mistake….most other zones though the fish were there…they were not switched on and didn’t produce any more hookups..

About 2:30pm we find a zone that was clicked on…


3 passes..


3 hookups

3 fish..


Continued runs did not produce any more….


Scoured around and found three sweet spots that had the fish patterened in a great arc on the graph…those fish were most likely switched on but the combination of hardcore jetskiers and some winds picking up started breaking some of the grass beds apart and the trolling rigs were getting increasingly difficult to keep clean…

Hiro was smuggling 4 heinekens in the ice chest…we popped a couple to drink ta good fishin buddies : )

We called it a little early to try a quick 20 minute run on the channel from shore but no boils presented themselves…we were joined by Coefficient and socalbassboy as we all waited eagerly for some topwater action in the channel….

Decided it was done and headed to the group camp to get the festivities rolling for the trophy presentations and raffle, beer drinking and FUN..


AND….of course…..We had to tell our FISHING LIES !

I wouldn't say that Hoss : ) Hiro held the biggest fish for 3 years and during that period held heaviest stringer 2 times as well....no one has been able to even scratch at that yet from northern regions....

The triple hookup with multi species is quite frankly a sick *** photo!

Jack dug being around his Dad's buddies and how I like to spend my time. Its great to see my son diggin fishing and the outdoors.

The music that was belting did have him fixiated.. First time he's seen live music... {on a personal note, thanks to Hiro and MikesOcean for the behind the scenes work they did on a personal matter of mine and another members} :Wink:

You guys slayed it on a tough bite.

Ron once again proving he owns the bait bite, though in his pic, I couldn't figure out who was Pinker, the fish or Ron...

Loweboat, Karlow and his bud Joe {cool cats} and all the new guys was a blast meeting ya'll...

As for the Fresno elitist's..... You got whats comin to ya from the Bako boys and you know it...

Next event Trailblazer and I will have two boats to chose from, hell we may even run both rigs with some family involved and really put the hammer down to those stripers..
