Tossed some frankentubes out for a couple of hours..

Lots of bluegills, none were worth taking pictures of.

The shellcrackers were very shy this time, bolting immediately for deep water.

Water temp was way down, now that the jets at the rear gate are back on.

Ill miss those floating mats of algae.. they were awesome cover.

Saw a couple of HUGE redears swimming around eating plankton.

These things were at a MINIMUM 2 lbs!

Really irritating seeing those monsters and having the ignore everything, lol.

I still managed a decent Redear though:

Ill be back with a new weapon.. I should get some bigger redears!

BTW be on the lookout for snaggers. They are quite active this weekend.

Got video of an ******** snagging. Douche took his kid and encouraged him to Wade.

Disgusting! People, man. They just don't think..

He definitely knew it was illegal.

nice pan.

was there fishing the mats last weekend. only managed a few dink bass on shallow cranks.

Planning to go back with the fly gear for those pans.

Thanks for the report and the heads up on the illegal activity.

Wow, what is this lake coming to. I remember when I fished this lake 2 years ago, never saw a snagger. Now I read about all these snaggers and poachers, just wow. Karma will catch up to them.

So those huge sunfish are redears? We we were there Saturday morning and I couldn't believe the size of them. I thought they were blue gills or crappie though.

Redears are able to exploit prey that bluegills cannot.

As a result they have little competition and don't stunt like gills do.

With three snail species and the heavy population of Asiatic clams, they have ample food.

Its likely that those big ones are redearXBluegill hybrids. They were pretty round looking..

Hybrid sunfish can get enormous due to heterosis, better known as hybrid vigor.

I took this picture at 1 of my locations. They're "targeting mullet," and bucketing everything. Their is always a snagger on that bridge, and I've seen as many as 12 at once. It was funny watching them get snagged on the telephone wires and started yanking on it. They learn from the friend that teaches them and never actually learns how to fish. I've even tried approaching them and asked if they knew how to fish, or wanted to learn. Only to find that most don't speak English. It is a shame when they work there way into city park lakes. As I'm typing I pictured Rick's (owner of LNL) face if he saw some out there snag fishing. Face instantly red, fire in his eyes, and a hours worth of screaming as he's throwing them out hahaha.
