There have been times when I'm cleaning the trout I've caught in the sierras and some are filled with orange eggs. Are these edible? Just curious.

I had an uncle who used to eat them raw in the 60's. I didn't know this until a couple years ago when I mentioned to my sister that I ate them. That's when she told me about my uncle. Sushi restaurants serve them raw. However, I wouldn't eat them unless they are washed in potable water. Enjoy.

Don't see why not.
I used to always save my catfish roe to scramble with cackle berries.
Made a different taste for breakfast.

Yes, they are similar to salmon eggs which are used in sushi and sashimi, and I have eaten them several times. They can be eaten either cooked or raw. They don't taste as good as sunfish (bluegill, redear, crappie) eggs but they are okay and must be high in fatty acids.
