Lincoln Park 9/15/12 Is that a gar??

Hit up Lincoln Park this morning for a quick ultralight bass session.
Water was clear, lots of weeds. Managed 4 decent bass, and countless micros.
Had a 3 lber shake me off; it's hard to get a good hookset with 2-lb test.
I did see a 2-1/2 foot long spotted gar cruising the shallows. I could've got a picture of it, but I tried to catch it instead.
Had a perfect cast right in front of it, but no interest at all.
Anyone know how to catch gar?

I was there two weeks ago & didn't see it but i was told it was caught over at mcarthur amd dumped into lincoln for some unknown reason.i actually caught it over in mcarthur a couple months back when it was in there.i used a bluefox half crank/spinner bait.unfortunately it shook loose before i could land it....

We were fishing there at night and the gar was slaying blue gill in about a foot of water right by my feet.. Would love to get that thing outta there..Its just a killin' machine...

This is the first I've heard of a gar being in the lake. Although I did see a silver arowana in the lake about a month ago. lol aquarists and their fish.
