Was going to hit Mexican waters for yellowtail & dorado but that got postponed…

So last minute I dragged my tub to Marina Del Rey.

Got a little late start but made the best of it..

Again….Slingin my 4” gulp minnow on a 1/4oz jig head

Landed:

2 Halibut
2 White Seabas – theyre getting bigger…signs are looking good to get some legals in the near future.
4 Calico Bass (didn’t target them much this outing)
6 JohnyBass
4 Cabezon
1 Bonito – small
2 Mackeral
1 Slimestick (Baracuda)
1 Lizardfish

Water clarity still in good shape but the back bays are still stained bad…not as bad a slast week but still poor condition which was a little painfull cause there some great spots deep into the back bays…I went and explored with 10-12 casts at a few spots but no strikes and that’s a no brainer…..hopefully some higher tides and higher zero tides will suck and flush the back bay out soon on here…we’ll see..

Anyways….good times, not the Dorado and Yellowtail I was hoping to target but I’m not complaining…gonna eat some beer battered Halibut tonight : ) yummy..

Good luck out there guys..
Gary

Some SERIOUS Hard fightin WSB….DRAG peela’s on 10 lb test was fun..

Sooner than later these suckas will be legal…
I’ve only tangled with a legal one there in the MDR harbor ONE TIME a few years ago and was faring well to land it until the seal took it…and that WSB was about 4’ long (insert TEARS here)..that seal brandished his thieving ways by thrashing the fish repeatedly on the surface for me to see ……anutha’ fish tale huh : )

Good fun…

The cabezon were running a little smaller this outing but very solid units
Here’s the average I landed..

Boy OH Boy look who's back at the salt with authority!
Great job out there GMAN ! Nice variety for sure. Are they still digging out all of the crud on the south side of the T-Jetty? I received alot of intel from the north to the south and even in the more local areas and they all agree.....The Fall bite is about to go off! The bait is starting to move back into the surf zone. Hope this meens great things for the HG IV Event!

Thanks for the MDR Intel and sorry about the postponement of the southern trip. My buddy just got back from down south and limited out on Dodo's,YT's,YFT's and some really nice Bluefins....WOW
Wish I could handle a trip like that!

Awesome fish! I was in the surf today. Two short halibuts, and a couple surf smelts I think. I'm going to post them and get input on ID-ing them.

Forgot to stop and get some lettuce and cilantro but they ROCKED like a rockstar nonetheless..

I prefer lettuce instead of cabbage…cabbage is good but lettuce just for a softer texture.

Dayam…getting hungry just posting this : )
