I've never gone fishing for striper, I've trolled them up after not catching bass. So I wanted to try to get on some before striper bowl.

I got my Alabama rig looking beautiful and headed up early Friday with a day off for working labor day on call. I got in the water and started trolling around. Didn't see any jumps or boils or anything, and the fish I clocked on the sonar were very deep, for the most part like lead core wont make it that deep deep. I dunno if I wasn't finding them at all or what. I found a few situations where there were some suspended fish less deep, but they didn't care to participate in my day off excursion. I am not sure where the fish should be at, or how deep, simply dunno about striper for the most part.

After a lot of that I decided to go for other bass, there was this point a good ways off that looked beautiful and I just knew there were fish on it. I was paddling towards it watching all the boats speeding up hoping they wouldn't stop there, and somehow none did. I pulled up on the lake side shoreline and checked it out, rigged up, and started to drift around the point.

First pass, smallmouth, and two more on the next two passes. Then one every 2-3 passes for the next hour or so netted me around 9 fish. I swapped baits a few times as it slowed down trying to hit a different strike on them, but nothing produced other than the plastic worm. hit the next point that kinda fit the pattern, came back to the first one, I widened out the area for one more, then I decided to go back to trolling and scouting for striper areas.

I failed the second trolling round as bad as the first, though I think I picked out a good spot at the least.

Shrugz. I gotta find something out before striper bowl, lol.

I had no idea they were so prominent. I thought they were just a random side catch, generally, while hitting up largemouth.

Had I known I may have focused on something else while in Oregon on the river. I had not caught a reasonable river bass in my life, nor a smallmouth I'd take a picture of, so I did both the there. Then I come home to a smallmouth only outing, lol, pretty unexpected.

Guess I need a spotted bass.

I'm gonna try to become more familiar with pyramid, I'd like it on the roster next year, and right now have no feel at all of it. Trolling and watching the meter helped a bit, but it Is slow going finding key spots for the yak.

Hope you're all slaying it.
