Missed the overnighter.3/4 day instead 9-4-12

Well originally I wanted to do a overnighter on the Producer out of H&M Landing. I was a few minutes shy and like the title says I missed the boat. So rather than coming home, I fell asleep in my truck and did a 3/4 day instead. Things happen for a reason, I always say. I went to Fishermans Landing instead cause I saw for a 3/4 day they did really well the day before. Plus I have never fished out of this landing, so thought I would try something new. Captain of the Dolphin was really cool new his stuff and the deckhands were hella cool too. Good time as we all joke around. Captain advised us that we were going to be fishing the kelp paddies and that it was going to get boring at time. So thats what we did. Paddy hopped. For me up until 1pm every time we would pull up to a paddy I kept missing fish. I think I might have lost at least 5. Got really frustrating. I believe the captain stated that we were going to use 2/0 hooks. I think mine was a 1/0 so being that I already missed 5 I cut that f-ing hook off and tied on 2/0 Gammie hook. Pulled up to a pad and guess what, 13 pound Dodo. Siiiiiiiiiick!! I have never caught a Dodo in my life. So very excited to do that. Then paddy hopped a few more time and caught a couple of yellow. So fishing was good, the catching was a little rough for me.

Overall the day turned out great. I even took home the jackpot of $85 bucks. Good group of people too on that boat. Everyone worked together as a team, made the day more enjoyable. Again things happen for a reason.

nice ! I went out on a friends boat on Monday in search of the yellowtail and dodo's but we never found them ... went out of Dana Point , went as far south as san onofre searching the paddies then tried going out 7-8 miles out as we got a tip from one of the charter boat captains .... big skunk !
