Went out to Pointe Dume this morning with great expectations. I'd yet to be skunked with the flies I've been tying and I was feeling cocky.

They say pride goeth before a fall and that seemed true enough today as the Ocean was in no mood to allow some knuckle-head with a puney trout rod to fish flies today.

I found a couple of crab beds birds had been working but didn't make more than a hand-full of cast that didn't become fouled in the salad.

I didn't see any dolphins, seals or sea lions, but I did notice this commotion about a quarter mile out.

I'm thinkin I need to invest in a decent spinning outfit. I like to fly fish, but I like to catch fish even more.
Not that I'll ever give up fly fishing. It is a graceful, dignified sport, sort of like... KARATE!!!

Cool. One member - whose privacy I'll respect - has had luck on them rigged Carolina style.

What'd I'd do is soak those suckers in your favorite scent. Their abdomens are made of a very absorbent material and will soak up a lot of moisture.

I went out yesterday after corbina off Del Mar and had the same problem with the weed. Plenty of big corbina around but no hits. Took about a 10 secs for my line to be loaded to breaking point. I have never seen it this weedy this late in the year. I will try again later in the week to see if I have better luck.
