So me and my wife were sitiing around on Monday (labor day) and I mentioned that we should have went fishing that morning. But instead we just hung out at home and did things around the house in the morning. Then around 1pm I said, "lets go to the lake for a couple hours". So I hooked up the boat and away we went. I figured the lake would be busy because it was 1pm ON Labor day.
So we pull up to the lake and sure enough the lake is PACKED!!! It was EASILY the busiest day of the year!!
"Oh well", I said..."lets go fishing"!! So we launched the boat and off we went.
My plan for the afternoon was simple....Catch bass!!! Hahaha.. So at 1:20pm I head out to the middle of nowhere in open water and started searching for the suspended fish Ive been catching for the last 3 1/2 weeks. These fish are in 45-55ft of water and they are suspended in the water columm..and they are on the chew!
As soon as I put the troller down, my graph lites up. Usually it takes a little while to find them...But not today!!:Big Grin:
So I fire out a cast and SMACK..IM ON....then its gone! :mad:I tell my wife I already got bit and she was like.."Sure you just got bit" hahaha (She hadnt even casted out yet) SO I cast out again...SMACK.. Im on!! And I swing a solid 3 lb Perris bass into the boat. "HA I TOLD YOU I GOT BIT", I said hahaha
So we both fire out casts and as soon as she engages the reel...BOOM...shes on! And I set the hook as well!! DOUBLE hookup!! This time mine is little and hers is about 2 1/2 lbs.

We were literally catching bass after bass for a few minutes...all the while my Daughter was sitting eating her lunch watching us. So I said...Okay its time to hammer these bass with the Princess rod. So I rigged up my daughters Princess rod with an icejig and turned her loose... On her very first drop her icejig got to the bottom and she ripped it and BENDO!!!! Shes on!!!
After a couple minute fight on the Princess rod, I reached down and lipped a solid 3 1/2 lb Perris Bass!!

Here she is on her first fish of the day..then holding it.

My daughter litterally caught 4 in a row on 4 drops with the icejig...then she asked to use the dropshot because she said the IceJig "was too much for her little arms"....hahahaha
So I tied up the dropshot on her Princess rod and sure enough she caught one on her first drop with the dropshot!!
That fish was a solid 3 lber that she need some help with because as she said, "It was a Giant"!! hahahah Love it!! :Envious:
Heres the pic of her fighting Her Giant...it ended up being smaller then her 1st bass of the day..But it fought better..

After 7 bass in a very short time my daughter decided to get out of the sun and into her "Fort" to play her LeapPad and leave the fish catching to Mom and Dad.
So Carissa made a cast and hooked up instantly... and she reached down and lipped a solid 4 lb Perris bass...you can see my daughter peeking out from her "fort" haha

This is a great time to get out there with me and learn some techniques that will get you through the Winter at Perris...Now is the time to learn because the weather is warm and the bass are on the chew...before you know it, the weather will be cold and the bass will be in Winter mode so now is the time to get out there with me and get some confidence with some very effective techniques and baits so when they get into full on winter mode you will have the confidence to last the whole day out there!!!

PM me or call me and Ill give you the details on the end of Summer special and we'll book your trip!! The time is now!!!!

Amazing outing from the sound of it! you're daughter would definitely outfish me on a bassin trip lol. Correct me if I'm wrong in asking as I know you are a guide but when you say "ripping" an ice jig what exactly do you mean by that?

An ice jig works best when you fish it vertically.. When I say "Ripping" I mean snapping it off the bottom and letting it fall back down on a slack line... You get a reaction strike... I say "Ripping", others might call it "jigging" it off the bottom, or "yo-yo-ing" it, but because of how hard I do it, its more of a RIP. However, there are certain times of year when you can only move it slowly to get bit or shake it in the face of a bass to get them to bite..

hope that helps

That's awesome Pete. I miss fishing with my wife big time. Unfortunately she was injured at work 10 years ago and has had 9 major surgeries in 9 years on her spine that effectively ended her days on the water. But your little girl will have priceless memories to cherish for the rest of her life. That is so cool.

Congrats on another successful day Pete! And kudos for keeping it a family affair...
