The last time I hit the surf was June 10th… Been extremely busy traveling back & forth for business while negotiating through some of life’s challenges. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger right?
Special thanks to my S.W.A.T. Brothers for reaching out to me. Thank you for your well wishes and support. :Group Hug:

For the past month or so, Mike, aka Lieutenant Bones has been doing most of the legwork for the upcoming Hunting Giants 4 Surf Fishing Event coming up on Saturday, October 20th. Mike embarked on multiple reconnaissance missions to potential event locations, making the necessary contacts, doing research and securing information for our 4th annual event. :Big Grin:

Last week, Mike presented me with the finished package for final approval. I said to him there’s only one thing left to do before I sign off on the permit and insurance policy. I need to fish the location myself since I’ve never been there before.
So we planned a short morning session on Sunday. The A.O. was just perfect, beautiful, clean beach along the Malibu coastline. Needless to say, it got my stamp of approval. :Thumbs Up:

Once we get a few details squared away, I will open the registration to all FNN members. Like all of our past Hunting Giants Events, this one is sure to be another memorable one. As always, Dana’s (Fisherman 57) philosophy of Family, Friends, Fun and Fishing will be the theme. Come out and join us!

We fished the area for a couple of hours starting at grey light in good conditions. Flat 1-2’ swells, mild off-shore wind, little salad, relatively clear water, incoming 3.5’ tide and no baitfish presence. The area was loaded with big Perch, I caught at least 6-7 Barred Surf Perch between 12-15”. We were hoping for some Halibut or Calico, but didn’t have any success finding them, probably due to the lack of baitfish.

Oh well, it was great to finally get back out there again and let to surf wash away the dust of everyday life. Felt a bit rusty but got into some nice Perch action to get the gears going again…

“Some people succeed by what they know, some by what they do; and a few by what they are.”

Here are some pics of the morning, enjoy.
HG4, here we come!!! :Big Grin:

Arthur glad you got back on the water, another great report with lots of great pictures sometimes life gets just a little to busy. Sorry I missed you a few weeks ago but will be seeing you soon.

p.s. I always love all of the extra pictures of the little things in your reports because I know that you have taken a little time to smell (or take pictures of the rose's) very important, great parting shot also.

As many have said your a Blessed Man my friend

Nice session and some serious perch - there seem to be bigger models in holes near rocks. That location is lovely, esp with low surf like now, and those kelp beds hold calico and rockfish, and hopefully few other species will come to play at the event.
If there was a day to come back to refresh in saltwater after the break, - Sunday was the day to do it. Thanks for great pictures and will be looking for more reports.

Arthur...As you know god doesn't give us more than we can handle. It's my pleasure to be of assitance whenever I can my friend. I know you are only one person with so much on your plate these days and I know that everything will work out the way it's supposed to. To see you jump with excitement when you got hammered by that first 15" perch was awesome and it was even better to just spend the time like we used to do back in the day. Saltwater therapy at it's best......good for the soul for sure. Hopefully the water cools a bit and the eco system moves more inshore for the event.
Either way the location is perfect for "Family,Friends,Fun and Fishing". Let us hope that Poseidon listens to our prayers and blesses us with calm seas and plentiful fishing !

First class report as well buddy....Good job!

P.S.

Thanks also for the lunch at the new spot....It was a nice change of pace and the meal was great. We both REALLY cleaned our plates

Believe it or not, I have a few quick moments to respond!

Looks like all is moving forward quite well for the HGIV Event!

Can't wait to be there and meet and help some new friends as well as catch up with the old ones!

I too hope "Mother Nature" is kind to us with the conditions for the event. She has done a fine job at keeping me busy on the work front and not allowed me much free time to enjoy geting a line wet!

That place looks very nice! Easy access with parking, some very nice structure for sure, and as Mike & Arthur have shown in the post some nice pigglets!

I hope there are other species out there to play also but then again, I think we have all enjoyed the exciting "Playoff's" that we seem to have been accustomed to in the past 2 years.

See you'all there!

Good to see a surf report from you Art, it's been too long, understandably.
I know your frustrations Arthur. We've been friends since childhood and you've always been a person who is always in complete control of what happens in your life. But when something happens that is totally out of your control and there's not much that you can do about it, it can be difficult to accept. But I know that you are strong, I know your family is strong. As you know, I'm kind of going through the same situation with my dad and I feel the same helplessness that you feel. It's in God's hands my friend, all we can do is to tell our dads that we love them and be there for them till the end.
Take care bro and know that there are people out there who are thinking about you and care enough to include you in their prayers.

Bonus Report! South OC Recon. Sunday 9/9/12

Quick report! Spent Sunday morning doing a Southern recon with Robert (Murrieta Angler). Robert and I have been extremely busy lately but was able to nail down a meeting point on the sand. :Big Grin:
Met Robert at the first A.O. at grey light and fished for a few hours. Swells were flat, but the salad condition was out of control, so frustrating. Made a move to a second location for better conditions, but not much luck there. Overall, a pretty slow morning, one short Halibut and a couple of Perch.
Had a great time hanging out with Robert, been awhile since I shared the sand with my Brother in Christ.

"A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams..."

We already have 100+ participants already registered for the Hunting Giants 4 event on October 20th.
If you haven't already done so, shoot me a PM and register yourself and your family for a fun day at the beach! :Big Grin:

A few pics...

Ahhh, there he is! I havent seen Roberto in a while. Looking good brotha! even with that hump on your back
The salad buffet must have sucked, but you guys managed a hali at least.
What's even worse is that the SWATmobile has been damaged. Luckily it was nothing major and both of you are fine, but getting into an accident sucks man.
I'll see both of you soon. Take care guys.

WOAH commander slow down on those PERCHZILLA'S!!!! I didn't know it was HOG season

Well done on landing some of the fattest perch I have seen all year! You are truly a force to be reckoned with. You seem to land fish when they seem un-landable. Another gift from poseidon...heck I ain't complaining!! I wish I could express my gratitude for what you have put into HG4, your dedication and integrity are matched by no one. I hope that if you ever need anything, you wont hesitate to ask.

Best,
Lucas

This year has been a challenging one... but everyday above ground is a good day. That's how I look at it.
I know that I'll be okay no matter what happens, I never sweat the small stuff... it's other people in my life that I worry about.
I'll see you & Noriko at HG4 my friend. :Big Grin:

I still haven't matched your PB 16" perch yet Lucas. :Envious: Catching a 16" BSP has been one of my goals for a long time.
Good to see you back on the board again my friend and HG4 is going to be a blast! :Big Grin:

Whoa...just noticed that this went down while I was away. I was telling Robert that I had this feeling that things were gonna bust loose in the surf while I was gone. Guess the seams never really split, but I'm glad you guys got to get out and do a little pullin'. Might try and sneak out myself this week since work seems a little light. :Secret:...not that I haven't been fishing enough over the past few days.

Thanks for the bonus report and eye candy! Have a safe trip this week and we'll talk soon!
