The Caddis Nav II & IV are both good tubes..

Look for sales. I just saw the Caddis Nevada Gold on sale for $79.. Kinds small for you, but you get the idea....

Caddis
Trout Unlimited
Creek Co

Look for name brands with good warranty, youll do just fine.....

Tubing is not cheap that's for sure. But it's not as pricey as a toon or a boat and it beats fishing from shore. Caddis tubes are nice but after fishing out of my Fish Cat 4, I don't think I'll get in my old Caddis again. You sit higher above the water, the PVC bottom makes it more rugged, and maneuverability is a lot better as compared to the U tube design. However, the FC4 and FC4 deluxe is rated for 250lbs. and the Fat Cat series is apparently out of your budget. IMO, you should spend a little bit more and go with the Creek Company ODC 420. It's rated at 300lbs. and has the same design as the Fish Cat. Cabela's price is $164.99

Hey Mikey,

Fishing gear is expensive. And if you want the good stuff; its even more expensive. Don't rush out there and just buy cheap stuff because its on sale or used. The last thing you want to do is pay for shipping and handeling and find out there is some defect in it. You may get lucky and come across one that way; but its like trying to find a parking stall at the mall just before Christmas. Good Luck!

A float tube is a major purchase. If you have a cheap immitation, it can really put a damper on your day. Besides your life vest; this tube is your life support system as you float off into deep waters. It holds you, all your fishing gear and your food. I personally would like the reassurance of a 90 day warranty; but that's just me. Remember, there are usually no returns on sale items and definately no returns one used stuff over the internet.

Just think, you've been without one this long and Christmas is just around the corner. 3 1/2 months to go :!: Just a little more patients and you could have that state-of-the-art tube right out of the box to call your very own.

Good luck to ya!

What fisher-of-men says....you have quality stuff already in your fins & waders, etc. Why cheapen & get a cheap float tube? That's your bread & butter when you are out fishing. I did the research & read what other people said about the tubes you're looking at & had a buddy that had the Togiak. I saw how his was falling apart by the seams so what other people said was true.

It's up to you, I reckon you'll be wanting to get another tube when the cheaper one you get starts to fall apart, then you'll be spending more or extra money for a better tube. Just get one from Outcast or Creek Company, those have been the best in performance....maybe not in value, but it'll last longer.

If you get the quality float tube & you already have most of the gear, your only concern will if you'll catch fish.

Big_Mike,

I am a big guy, 6'2" and push 300+ lbs....I fish from a Togiak tube and have had no problems.

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o307/sonarbp/TubinNewport3.jpg

It is a good starter tube....I have had mine for about a year and float Newport Harbor at least twice a month....more if I have the extra time...and this tube has done really well.

If its to much the fish cat 4 is an awesome tube. I got one my self and I love it. The problem is, is that they just came out with a new model the fish cat 4 lcs. They cost more than the old fish cat 4 and are almost exactly the same. If you want the cheaper one/ older model there hard to find because the stores are stocking up on the newer models. But the sport chalet in Porter Ranch/ Chatsworth only stocks the older model for some odd reason, and there 150$$$$$.
