Upper Kern: Johnsondale Bridge Aug 24 -26

Hi, Going to "R" Ranch in Johnsondale weekend of Aug 24-26. Planning on fishing the Upper Kern river around the Johnsondale Bridge. Does anyone have any current reports or info on this part of the River? So far i'm hearing.. use barbless hooks and salmon eggs or lures/flys. Have never fished this area so any info would be greatly appreciated..!! Thanks..

I was up there last month, I did pretty good. Use 2 pound test, a small hook and a heavier split shot. Worms and salmon eggs were the only things that produced for me. Try to fish fast water, I caught all my fish in rapids. Cast up river, let it slowly drift down and keep tension on it the whole time so you can feel the bite. Good luck!

Remember, the area above JDB is special regs. No bait and barbless hook. Special take regulations are in force as well. You can fish with bait below the bridge but not above.
