Went down to Del Mar for a couple days to fish and watch the ponies run. lost my A#@ at the track. However the corbina picked me up. Met up with my good buddy who ties the best sand crab patterns and is a local with all the dope spots. We set out mid day and started spotting fish right away. I was throwing my 8wt with 250 grain shooting head. Finished off my last day with a NICE spotty just before dark.

That definitely makes up for a bad day at the track.
Great pics, are you sight casting for the corbina ?

Yeah, blind casting is a waste of time. That's the fun part, leading the fish and putting everything together and most of the time it still doesn't work.

Awesome pics man! My friend and I used to fish the channels and so on down by the race track back in the day.... We would punish the hali's and spotties on little darter heads with kalins grubs! Good times for sure but never hung a spotty like that one..... Great job!

Thanks for sharing!

My buddy caught 2 little hali's right by the rocks. Talked to some surfers that were walking by the railroad tracks and said they had seen a monster halibut in the channel. Made some casts up there but nothing. Good stuff.

WOW. Those fish are BIG. I have seen some of your posts in the past, you have that fish wired! I am going down to Del Mar later this month, looks like I will be passing the time in the surf.

Thanks for the cool photos!
