Since my trip to Eagle Lake and Lake Almanor was canceled due to the fire, I was thinking of driving south to the Oceanside Pier for some fishing' fun:) apparently, it's the longest wooden pier I the western US. Any info/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That pier scares the hell outta me.. lol

I'd imagine it to be a good place for bonito and cudas.

Never been there.

fished from my aluminum boat there a few years ago in the harbor not the pier, bought some bait from the receiver (sardines). I think you can get to the receiver on a ramp from the parking lot. we caught some leagl size halibut that day in the channel between the marine base and the public side

Just got back a few mins ago. Lots of 10"-12" mackerels (bug & catfish bait) and if your want, the shark fishing isn't that bad. That's not my thing so I can't help you in that department. I was there from 11-4 and filled my 5gal bucket 75% full of Mack's. I was using a single hook c-rig set-up and a chem-lite as my weight/floats. Couldv'e caugh more if I'd use a Sabiki.
