Bishop area trip looking for gold!!!! aug 27

I have been needing a trip to the sierra's i haven't gone all year and i was craving it!!!! i was dreaming about it every night for about a week haha. so i got my little cousin to come with me and his buddy came too. we camped down in the pvr camp ground. My little cousin didnt wanna chance sleeping where it would get cold so we stayed at the lower elevations at night. any way we get up there about 3 on sat set up camp and head up to pvr from the dam side. we didnt go to far in just to the first bend. i caught a bout 10 trout all on drop shot berkley power worms some lip ripperz also green was the hot ticket that day. nothing special just a nice fat perch that i thought about keeping for a fish fry but i let him go due to the parasites that were in him. Ryan and his buddy Ty caught a few fish thomas Bouyants and pb n/c were working well for them. i didnt do any bait fishing all trip for the fear of killing fish. i wanted to release everything i caught.

sunday we went up to mosquito flats and hiked up to the treasure lakes. what a beautiful hike!!!!! it was awesome a few times i was wondering why i was doing this at over 10,000 feet elevation but it was soo worth it!!!! ill keep it short we caught a few goldens i caught a few fly fishing and a few drop shotting the plastics again. ryan caught a couple on the drop shot and ty wasnt lucky enough to get a golden but it was okay he isnt much of a fisherman yet.

we hiked back through gem lakes and fished most the lakes on the way back for little success, fishing wasnt as good as i remember it being up there. maybe it was because the moon was really bright every night and almost full.... im not sure but I still had a great time. i love to use my fly pole i dont get it out much any more around san bernardino. after we got back we went to pvr again and caight a few trout same story as before. next day we slept in packed up the stuff and went and fished south lake for a few hours. i caught my limit on flies and small crank baits ryan caught a few using bobber and fly with a black gnat, they really likes that fly this trip. and ty caught a few on the TB. here are a bunch of pics that i took while i was up there. sorry for the pic quality my camera broke so im using a cheapy :(

You were fishing in the second most visited trail in the Eastern Sierras after the Whitney trail. Easy access means lots of traffic. The lake you went to has been featured on several other web sites and a fishing magazine touting it's unusual residents for that drainage and has seen quite a bit more pressure in the past two years as word of mouth spreads.

i think i caught about 40 fish in the 3 days my little cousin ryan caught about 20 and his buddy caught about about 10 i think

mosquito's were bad at night at pvr but they wernt to bad at the site. i doused the tent in deet spray lol. were bad

Wow no wonder I haven't seen you at Silverwood in a while. Now why would you go fish'n in God's country vs. the insanity of summer at the Wood? Don't get it, don't you wan't to wade between diapers and assorted other toxic waste?
