Brian "Bubba" Porter of Seeker Rods and Ronson "Catmando" Smothers of Los Angeles are two of the more famous Catfish fisherman here at Irvine Lake. Well the dou teamed up to catch this 10 fish 100lb limit today! The two anglers reported catching their fish on a hump in the Santiago Flats that was just absolutley stacked with fish. Bubba later said "It was insane! As soon as our bait hit bottom it was absolutley smoked by a fish in the 8-10lb class! We hit 10 fish and they where still biting! We had to leave them biting! A absolutly phenomanal day of fishing at one of my favorite lakes in Southern California!. " This is the first limit of 100lbs to be weighed in this year! As we start to head into late summer/ early fall these big Channel and Blue Cats will start to feed heavily so come on out to Irvine Lake.

Bill Sumida and Bill Oune also found the Channel Catfish to be biting with a little help from the Magic Man himself Mr Mitz Onizuka! Here the trio shows off their 15 fish stringer of Channel Catfish they caught in Boat Dock Cove. They reported catching all of their fish on Pike Mackeral, a highly prized food fish! They also said the fish bit pretty solid all afternoon.

If you are after Catfish the bite is going strong as I type this! Come on out to the lake and enjoy an nice relaxing day on the water. Night time temperatures of have been in the high sixtys low seventys making for a nice cool night out on the water and the fish are chewing!

No disrespect buddy. I know you guy do a great job there. Oh! In your opionion, how would a Curado 300 20lb line on a Okuma swimbait rod H 12 - 25lb do for those big ones or should I just bring my 15lb spinning set -up. I can only bring one, on our boat. Already have 4 setups

It work out just fine! In fact when I do fish for Cats I just use my swimbait or calico set ups.

And the Crappie joined the fray today! These guys came all the way from Texas to fish Irvine Lake! Booked a trip with Don Spencer and where rewarded with this limit of Crappie and handful of Bass, which where caught and released.
