Striper Shore Fishing

I would like to try and catch some striped bass but dont have a boat or money to rent a boat. Does anyone know any good fishing spots in the LA area (maybee castaic or pyramid) where you have a chance at getting some stripers from the shore. Also I have never fished for stripers so does anyone have any advice for baits or setups for these fish.
