Spearfishing catalina

I am going to be at catalina tomorrow for a day and want to do some spearfishing with my polespear. Ill be arriving at Avalon and wont be traveling very far from there...only a few miles. Can someone please tell me where i can spear in this area. I was thinking of finding some sandy reef areas for some halibut. thank a bunch. largemouthlad
