Finally hit the lagoon on the tubes this Sunday, been doing a lot of other outdoor activities.
My first hookup tied me up instantly and I lost him. I pulled out line for fresh un-scathed stuff, re-tied, and cast right back to the same spot for the same result. Only this time the fish tied around the weeds and then made a run for the surface. I couldn't pull him down and actually saw him swimming at the surface trying to jump, being pulled back by my line, not quite able to make it. I let loose and crossed my fingers, but I was tied hard enough for the line not to give him any slack, knotted at the bottom. In a moment I felt him get loose.
I was kinda grumpy about it, and pops has already landed a fish. Kinda slow start, but hit some fish off of points. The bites were timid and fishing was a bit rough. Found some more feisty fish off a ledge that normally holds fish that wont bite for me, pulled a 5 lb and 2 lb fish out of there. After that my day picked up, though I was still having equipment issues, not trusting my line and my drag was grabbing now and then, making me leave it pretty loose to be sure of it. I don't know what on earth happened to that rod/line as it was only sitting around a month. Picked up a few more by the first point by P-cove on the way out.
Got 7 fish, one dink, all on plastic worms.
Hopefully they're hitting harder when I take the girlfriend so she can sense the bites better. Hope you guys are wearing sunscreen.
