I've never been to the Kern River and was wondering if anybody could give some help/advice on where to fish/camp. I'm taking my brother and cousin on their first fly fishing trip and was hoping to get some good fishing done this Fri and Sat morning. We only have all day Fri, half day Sat to fish. We're willing to hike and/or drive to locations, but most importantly I want my brother and cousin to enjoy their first fly trip so they get hooked and come fly fish with me more. I typically fish the E. Sierras, from Bishop to Lee Vining, or S. CA mtn creeks. Anybody that has a weather/water temp report would be great, or could point me in the direction of a site that gives good weather/water temps for the Kern. We might even continue up the Kern to the Golden Trout wilderness, if that's within a reasonable drive in the middle of the day (reasonable being 2-3 hours during peak heat when we can't fish anyway).

thanks for any help,

Jeremy

Hit the campgrounds and public beaches. They stock where the people are. I would'nt bother up by the bridge, it's been slow up there apparently.
