Accident on Harbor Fwy. 6am. Wilshire 110fwy. Split http://www.scsurffishing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif

Taking Co- Worker and his son to hit the Cabrillo wall in my

14ft. Valco, 18hp. Evinrude Engine. Two weeks ago, Crank on

engine jams, take it to Sunrise Marine, they fix it $118.00.

Today pull crank, engine sort of starts, then after ten pulls, Nothing !!!

Call Sunrise tell them what happened, did not want to falsely accuse,

but could not figure whats up http://www.scsurffishing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif Always started 1-2 Pulls !!!

Pull off engine cover, some throttle arm thing is hanging off disconnected,

One of the spark plug wires is cut off !!!

"Scott" the mechanic takes the phone over there tell him the story,

he says Ok, wait there, I will be right over there. He checks it out,

he shows me what happened. Turns out some other part

malfunctioned, ripped the throttle lever arm an plug wire right out!!!

1967 Evinrude "They do not work on " they told me last time" to hard

to get parts, if at all !!! BUT this guy has been doin this stuff for 35yrs.

So. he tells me, Come by 1/2 hour and I will look for some parts, try

to fix it and get you guys on the water today '" http://www.scsurffishing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif

He gives me this ad thing, and tells me, show this to the attendant, tell

him you are just going to the shop, thinking I may not have to pay the

Launch fee http://www.scsurffishing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_idea.gif Tell attendant what happened, he lets me slide http://www.scsurffishing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Get to shop, Scott does his expert stuff, fixes it, and I go back.

Drop the boat in water, start it up, Prop won't turn !!! Bring it out again,

(by this time it is 11am !!! been up since 4.30am.) Flip engine up,

hear a click in the prop area, Prop is in gear now http://www.scsurffishing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Figure NAW !!! Thats it, just ain't my day, to tired now. We went shore

fishing after all. Never did get to hit the wall http://www.scsurffishing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_sad.gif But father and son who

I took got some good time fishing after all, Me Pullin my guts out http://www.scsurffishing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Here is one bass I caught on the drop shot though on my day off !!!

And if anyone hears of or can hook me up wit a 25hp. Outboard 1990 or above for not more than four hundred,

and is a dependable engine, PLEASE let me know !!!

And here is my Plug for Scott and the Peeps at Sunrise Marine, Engine

failure was not due to the crank system he fixed, so, he really was not

obligated to drive down to the ramp area and check the engine, so ya .

gotta respect people who go out of their way to help others !!! http://www.scsurffishing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Sorry to hear about your engine troubles fishshep. You must be a good man to take your co-worker and his boy out with you.I know kinda how you felt.My teen years were spent either at the river [blythe] on most summer weekends, or the 1 or 2 week stays at Temple Bar at Lake Mead.We broke a throttle cable once [did'nt bring a spare] and the nearest place to get one, north Las Vegas 140 miles away.Good luck to you !
