Got invited by my buddy Jay to come and join him and his son Conner on a half day trip out of Daveys Locker on the Western Pride. It would be both their first cattle boat trip and wanted me to help them out, I was very happy to do so,.. We got to the landing at 8am, Jay got the tickets and on board we went...todays moo trip count: 59 cows! Wow...well...I've been through worst LOL As you can see in this months issue of PCS! Luckily no babies or sea sick passengers on this trip. Everyone was having a good time,..
Let me tell you something about this boat...They run a tight ship! Very clean, crew is well mannered, Captain put us on some good spots and people were catching some nice bass! Too bad no one was releasing them! Oh well, every calico I caught went straight back to the drink. Conner had the hot stick of the day, he was nailing some feisty cudas! All shorts but for that kid he was having fun catching them,..
Now the only problem we were having on the boat was Pelicans! Damn birds were all over us, every live chovie we tossed in the water, the giant rats were diving after! Lots of them were hooked! I caught about five! LOL of course all released! Surprised the sea lions weren't all over us, once your bait got pass the birds there was a good chance on catching a nice calico! saw some nice fat ones caught, i tried tossing the plastics but wasn't getting any love! All they wanted were chovies, thank God the bait barged hooked up some nice ones!
Thanks Jay for this moo trip! Hope you guys had a good time! Next time we'll hit up LBSF and jump on the Native Sun for a twilight trip,.. Hope you all like the pics! Peace,..
