Santa Barbara Kelp: Calicos

Has anyone fished for Calicos in the kelp near santa barbara..

I will be staying near carpenteria beach and I am looking for any close kelp spots that hold calico bass.

I will be taking the kayaks up so close to shore kelp lines are a must..
