So my family and I took our annual summer trip up to the june lake area for a few days. we always stay at june lake rv because its always been a great experience there. you couldn't have asked for better weather, except the wind started to get unbearable the last day of the trip, at least it wasn't the whole time. so now onto the report...

Thursday: the gf and i drove up that afternoon to meet my parents who had already been there for a few days, we arrived around 6pm and i just needed to wet a line before the sun went down after that long, hot, drive (the a/c in my ranger went out and i've been putting off getting it fixed :Embarrassed:). took a quick run up to rush creek for nada. didn't even spot a fish...might of had something to do with the heavy fishing pressure that creek probably had over the weekend. packed up and drove over to do some shore fishing at silver lake till dark. had a few short strikes on the power worm, but no takers...

Friday: my dad rented a boat on gull lake for the day. we headed out early, with not much success. trolled most of the morning with different lures at different depths and only picked up one perch. decided to try the power bait approach and that seemed to be the hot ticket...picked up 3 decent rainbows fairly quickly then took a lunch break. got back on the lake around 1pm and fished to about 5pm...the afternoon bite was much better, caught 6 more on the bait and my gf picked up one on the troll. i also got a nice suprise with a 3.25lb rainbow that sucked up my bait...what a fun fight that was on 2lb test...a nice kicker fish to end the afternoon with :Big Grin:

Saturday: We decided to hit up one of our favorite creeks, Lee Vining. My dad wanted to bag some rainbows to take home for his freezer, so we did what we do best, lol. the creek was loaded with fish, and they were all hungry...panther martins and mini jigs were the hot baits, especially the mini jigs, couldn't keep them away from it. my dad, gf, and i all caught our limits within no time.

Sunday: this turned into a kind of lazy day for us, we all woke up late....did a lot of exploring and running around. decided to just go back up to lee vining and play around for a few hours for some more action. picked up a couple nice rainbows, but the bite wasnt nearly what it was the day before. headed back to the RV for dinner...my gf and i walked down to the park area at gull lake to fish from shore till it got dark and picked up 2 on the pb...apparently we were the only ones having any luck because the people next to us said they had been there all day without a single bite, lol.

Monday: my parents decided to pack it up and head home, the gf and i weren't done yet...so we rented a boat on silver lake for the afternoon. i wanted to stay up there till the sun went down so it wouldn't be a hot drive home. it was a miserable day on the water.....the wind was so bad that trolling was nearly impossible. using power bait was almost impossible for us as well because the wind kept uprooting our anchors. at least we beat the skunk and caught two decent bows...but that was it. packed it up and headed home. overall we probably caught around 50 fish...released a bunch and kept some for the freezer...overall a decent trip :Big Grin:

Great report! I'm heading up there from the AV, myself, tomorrow morning to get out of this 110deg heat! Good to see the bite is still good up there after the holiday weekend. I made my annual trip up there for the holiday last year and Rush Creek was overflowing and the bite was hot too, but I may skip the creek this year though after reading your report. How were the mosquitoes up there?

only place the mosquitoes were bad was lee vining creek...but they are usually pretty bad there anyways. everywhere else they seemed pretty sparse...

I also noticed much less mosquito activity in the June Lake area than normal for this time of year. Perhaps because it was such a dry winter? Up in the Tioga pass, they were out in force, though.

The lady is a beauty, and she enjoys fishing. KEEPER STATUS!

I'm glad you guys had better conditions than we did over at Crowley 7-5 to 7-8. Early A.M. was OK, but if you were on the water after 10 A.M. the surface went from Walden Pond to Victory At Sea in under 5 minutes--that place is missing a bet as a wind farm. The algae was pretty rank, too.
