Hit up NPH yesterday for about an hour and managed to pull up a couple of flatties.
This one was about 12” and unfortunately the hook went right through its eye and when I pulled the hook his eye came with it;

See it’s eye on the hook?! : (

After I released the shorty, I cast to the same area and a couple throws later I hooked up to this;

Measured out at over 24”.
I have no clue what the color pattern was with the Big Hammer and I didn’t use any scent.
Lots of bait in the harbor right now, fish were jumping all around and causing major boils.

Here are some fish I have caught over the last 2 sessions.

Nice work Robert.
That might be the Smelt pattern Big Hammer. It's been working well up here on some super secret missions that Yoda and I have been on...:Wink:

Have fun Monday, I would of joined you if the boss hadn't brought me back on full time.
It's a good thing and bad at the same time.... cuts into my fishing:Angry:

Roberto,

Corection Added!!!!!!!!!

Bill is right on the Smelt Pattern for the first short. As you stated in the PM those were the swimmies that I gave you a year ago! I some times keep them in the same compartment of my bait box and they tend to bleed over from one color to the next. Great eyes Bill!

VG is right on. A Spottie Special it is! The same ones that I gave you last year when we hit up the harbor!

Be carfull as the harbor can be addictive!

See you on the big boat on Monday. Eddie (Hesbros) and I will be there early am to help set up! We plan on fishing after we are done with the kids somewhere so bring the gear and join us!

Robert,

Great job on the mixed species, I've grown very accustomed to seeing ghosts in your reports :Cool:!

What time of day were you fishing NPH? I currently work like 10 minutes from NPH, so if you ever plan on stopping by there in the afternoon, let me know, i'll join ya after work!

Good job out there Robert:Cool:

I spent a little time with a friend cruising the harbor in his duffy boat. I was amazed at how much activity there was......lots of baitfish being chased.:Shocked:

I actually like spottie special. It's best used around dense patches of eelgrass. BTW wtg on the legal.

Robert,

Well done Robert. Glad to see you have been making it out. I wish I could join you guys on Monday. Nothing beats the excitement that happens when a child catches their first fish and that first catch just might be what it takes for the child hooked on this great sport.. I remember a day way back when I was that kid out fishing for the first time and from the moment I made my first catch I was hooked. From that point forward fishing began making a positive influence in my life. Fishing has not given me any fortune or fame but the lasting friendships, and all the experiences I have gained from the adventure is priceless. I'm sure for many of you out there reading this there was a day way back when that kid was you. Thanks for paying it forward guys (Robert, Steve, Eddie).

Wow! Someday, I will get there too...Fantastic job on the haul and thanks for giving people like me something to look forward to as we gain experience!

BTW, did you leave the eyeball of the first flatty on the big hammer? The second hali looks like it has both eyes but there is a third eye on the hook. Could this be the fabled Simpson's three eye fish? Was this in San Onofre by the nuclear plant?

Mighty fine, Robert!
Say now, do you have to overcome a creepy get-ready-for-a-thunderbolt feeling when throwing something other than an LC? Gives me the heeby-jeebies!:Rolls Eyes:

Robert,

I ALWAYS know that when I open your reports I'll see some solid fish. Living up to your reputation as the WSB guru, you casually put another one on the sand. Great work out there, and hopefully we can hit up NPH after work one of these days. Haven't had the chance to fish after work yet, but I'm keeping my rods in the car in anticipation.
